Wich gearing?
 

Hi guys,

I was wondering what gearing I have to use for a brushless Novak GTB 5.5 Velocity set?

I will using this in my TRF501x with a AE 87t spur on a Astroturf track (Kampenhout).

With an LRP 5.5, I've been using a 17 pinion on the kit spur (96T I think) at Kampenhout. Most would consider this conserative, but I've found out BL motors don't like to be overgeared and it surely was fast enough compared to others.

I use 15/16 myself, not sure what your track is like. I know woody ran 18 on the NOSRAM with same setup and cooked it. he went to a 4.5 but 15t pinion and it was fine.

It's an astroturf track with high grip.

Is 17t pinion ok with my setup or better be safe and go 16 or 15?

I run on an indoor dirt track with about a 90 foot straight and a huge quad. I am geared at 21/96 with a 5.5, and the temps are right at 165 on both esc and motor. In practic it was only temping 120 on both. But after my first race weekend I guess I was pushing it harder. I plan on droppong a tooth. Oh, and I am running the upgraded pulleys.
