xx4 Diff question
 

I have just taken one of the diffs apart on my original xx4. It has the older style thrust bearing setup, where they are held in a plastic holder, between the thrust plates. My question is according to the original xx4 manual i am supposed to put a ring bearing and shim down the diff halve before i put the thrust set it.

However....this bearing and shim were not there when i took the diff appart so do i need them? or can i put the older style thrust set straight in the diff half as it seems it was before?
