XX4 stick or saddle pack lipo
Just got my self a xx4 for playing with looking at running it on sunday at southport, it has the original one peice chassis. The previous owner was running a stick pack. As i run a bmax i only have saddles didnt really want to invest in another pack of lipos. Would it be possible to make the car compatible for saddles, i was looking at putting battery parts from a b44 including the carbon straps in the xx4 but i would have the to drill the chassis to accomadate the posts. Is there an easier option i could do?

Couldn't you run your saddle packs one in front of the other in the slot for the stick?
|
Possibly jon but i only have the standard plastic strap from the xx4 and it would only hold one pack.

The car was designed originally to run saddles so why not get the original battery strap set and use that. Its much cheaper/simpler than new lipos or bodging B44 parts.
In fact, I've got a spare set, come to Bury instead and I'll fit them for you! |
Not quite sure wat you can u post a pic of yours please. :)

Get B4 baterry strap and modify it slightly - that's what I've used when I've been running XX4 with stick packs.

The other end slots into the chassis. And yes in the picture the car has super wide wishbones and truck wheels. I ran it at Bury's indoor series as a sort of 4wd truck. |

i only use velcro on my lipos in my xx4 and they stayed all season!!

I just flipped the stock ones upside down and took the dremel to revome some material from them and some in the chassie where they go in. Put some foam thing on them to keep the battery in place. Very simple and effective.

I had it custom made by fibrelyte. It was 15 pound for two i believe if i remember correctly.

AshleyB4,
Question: What is the weight of the lipo you are using? And do use extra weight in the car and if yes, how much and where? I also want to switch from saddle to stick but when I started calculating the weight distribution, it looked to me completely wrong or I had to put a lot of extra weight at the side of the speedo/receiver?! Thanks:thumbsup: |

I run the same set up as Ashley, and although lipos are lighter than nimh batteries the same also occured to me. I just put a strip of lead under the servo to cancel out the battery and then a strip of lead either side of the tranny tunnel towards the rear to help plant the rear a bit, and the balance seems pretty much central (my speedo is a mamba max pro so relatively heavy so this helps cancel out the battery weight, so you may need to add a little more on that side if you have a ligher speedo) I think I have added about 150g in total.

Pugboy,
Thanks for the reply, I have just been remeasuring my electronics and I came to the conclusion that my speedo weighted 75g!!! So to get to the same left/right (55/45) distribution as with saddle, I only have to add 90g at the right side which then leads to a final weight of 1690g. The only thing that I am questioning now is the fore/aft weight distribution. Since the car was nose heavy anyway I am going to put most of the weight on the right back end side of the car. Thanks |
I'm running sp 5.5 19/82. Saddle pack lipos with standard kit straps. Car seems to nose dive. Looking at adding weight can anyone advise me on how much and weres best? Thanks
