why does it take so long
 

to get things from HK takes like 2-3 weeks
to get things from USA takes 2-3 days

Odd, I've always found it the other way round, stuff from HK or Japan comes quicker then a lot of stuff from this country, stuff I've ordered from the States, takes so long, I've almost forgoten I've bought it.

sometimes I've found the same. I just find it strange I order a single lipo and it takes 3 weeks from HK. do they drive to the UK lol

I,ve had stuff recently from HK in less than a week. I cant think of anything I,ve ordered from there that has taken longer than 10 days but that was stated in the delivery terms. Maybe you get yours personally delivered by Rik Shaw:woot:

i have found that the items stay sat around on the shelfs for a few days after its bought and my most recent item has been sat with hk post for 5 days now waiting to be processed. add a 2 day stop over in uk customs and then hey presto 3 weeks later you get the item.

on the other hand tho i have saved well over £200 getting things from hk and for that i can wait a week or 2

I ordered two lipos from HK late at night a week last Tuesday after our 8 minute final. I thought I'd have to wait a long time as the planes were only just getting going after this volcano business, but they turned up last Tuesday in time for racing!

The same can be said for banks.. why when you send a cheque does the money come out of your account straight away, but when you get a cheque it takes nearly a week before you can draw the money - even though it is your money!

Because the cheque has to clear. If the cheque was to bounce and the recipient of that cheque has then spent that money, it would get unbelievably messy trying to claim the funds back

this is the 21st century, not the dark ages.. if you can send money using technology & transfer funds instantly i'm pretty sure technology has a solution to clear a cheque instantly, after all when you are overdrawn they are quick enough to charge you!

I overpaid 1st direct last month after paying them back their overdraft. In the time it took from me hanging up giving them the sort code/acc number for my barclays account. (1st directing being part of HSBC) and me log into my online banking the funds were in my account showing available. not showing pending.

back to the original post. my lipo finally turned up 3 weeks after placing the order. they said it was coming from HK and £4.07 was the P&P. The jiffy it came in had a UK 1st class PPI in the corner and the senders address was in the UK.

It's not really on them posting from the UK and saying they're posting from HK just to have their mate/supplier posting them 1st without proper explanation on the auction.

The banks sit on it to get the interest.

Think of how many cheques are written daily, gives you an idea as to why its worth the banks sitting on that tranfered money for a couple of days

Whats their ebay name

was probably sent as part of a larger batch to the UK, then posted on by a "friend" in the UK to the individual addresses. to keep overseas postage costs down.

If that were the case then the friend would end up paying import duty and repostage costs on them so any saving on postage would be lost. Sounds more like someone has found a cheap supply and can make a bit by selling them on.

they confirm the lipo was shipped from the UK under a 1st class stamp.

I feel it's a bit of a piss take charging £4 for P&P then it arriving under a 42p stamp regardless of it being ordered in from HK. They should keep stock in the UK so they can turn it around in 2-3 days like DMS/MK/etc. Totally misleading imo

I bought a few bits from UKRC a few months back and they never turned up. They gave me a full refund tho so cant really argue about it.

i got some bits from them when they said they were in the uk, 3 weeks later no item so i emailed them and got the reply "we ship all our items direct from a wharehouse in HK"
looked at the item still said uk so i took a screen print of the page, less that 1 hour later the ad said HK.
sent them the copy of my screen print and said that they had lied, they gave me a refund and told me to keep the item as they would not pay for return postage, sure enough when the item got here there was a HK post stamp on it.
it appers that they are listing items they can get cheep in HK and when the item is one they just order it from the suppliers in HK

i bought a mini fiat 500 abarth bodyset from hk, 5 weeks later and 10 emails they admitted it was lost (or not sent maybe?) then wanted me to go halves on the postage ( they charged me 14 quid for a body), cheeky t**ts.

They might get the stuff in bulk from HK, then send out what they need to in the UK. But they probably say its being shipped from HK so that they can make more money on postage.
Ebay have supposed to have clamped down on people bumping postage charges up to make money. My missus used to sell a lot of books on Ebay, but Ebay have now got set prices for postage on books. Some they don't allow you even charge postage!!
They don't take into account the size and weight of some of the books. So now we don't sell any books on Ebay because we end up losing out when someone buys a book for £1.20 and then the postage costs us about £7.....but Ebay won't let us charge postage.....go figure!?


...anyway, thats why I think they put HK as the location of the products. Technically they are, but they'll pay less per item if they bring them in in bulk.
