got a b4 at the minute, was thinking about getting the schumacher or tamiya as I fancy an upgrade but the X6 conversion kit is soooo tempting.

Now I know some of you might be a little biased (no offence intended :blush:) but what are the down sides to the X6?

I know the up sides but I just want to weight up the pros and cons before I buy :D

Ummm....urrrrr.....

1 of the 4 screws holding the gearbox down is sort of under the spur gear, so I sometimes drop the washer when I'm trying to get the screw in ?!?!?

The body clips that hold the rear wing on run front to back, so sometimes get pushed out when I crash :blush: I tape the clips on now :blush:

They are common as muck at our club :eh?: :woot:

Mount it holding the chassis upside down ;)

I'd recommend to go for it, it's so much more fun to drive than a rear-motored car! But if you've got the money I'd rather buy a used S2. Now that's one SEXY car!!!

Well, the X-6 performs greatly! And the setup sheets from Ellis is a big help! And the team keep improving the car all the time with upgrade parts!

My downsides are:
-stick lipo across the chassis is not ideal, nor sexy (vs. S2 or Cougar SV)
-I have found some parts to be too brittle. Have had some breakages that were "unexpected".
-you end up using a small fortune on option parts. I actually think the S2 cost me less in total.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still go for it! :thumbsup:

To be honest, even with all the new options for 2wd's, I've not once thought about trading my x6 in.

In the right hands pretty much every one of the main 2wd contenders is capable of winning anything...B4, X6, Cougar, Tamiya. For me though, I find it easier to be consistently fast with the X6 than I ever did with the B4...I think that's because mid motored cars are more balanced generally than rear mounted motor cars, so it copes better with my inconsistencies :blush:

I did do equally fast laps with the B4 when I had a good day, but it punished me slightly more when I wasn't. 'Upgrading' to the Tamiya will feel much the same as driving a b4 I'd imagine. Same sort of driving style with subtle differences.

However, switching to mid motor car is a different driving style, so if it's a change your after with your 'upgrade' I'd suggest go X6 or cougar.

If you have a B4 already...then for me the choice would be obvious! You have some of the spares and all the tools already, so it's simples :thumbsup:

[EDIT] Oh and S2's...for me the nicest looking 2wd I've seen...I'd love one of those...pity they're not made any more, I might have reconsidered the X6 for one!

When trying a B4 after being used to the X-6, that really sucked! "Once you go black you never go back!" :lol:

The X-6 is so much better over the bumps and jumps so much better! Easy to drive!!!

On high grip tracks it's as fun as 4WD!

My only bad point is that you can easily spend £100 on option parts. I sold my b4 and bought a used x6 with all the upgrades on and i would recomend u do that. Great car

yeah at the moment I am torn between the new cougar s1 kit or a x6, cant afford the pro spec cougar at the moment.

I prefer the looks of the cougars but its venturing into the unknown but there is a LHS near me that stocks Schumacher, which is nice.

but the x6 would be £25 cheaper, already have spares and the they are well supported and established here.

If you are based in Nottingham, you will find that there is also a local dealer close to you too who stocks X-Factory kits, spares and parts, so dont be put off by spares support.....

Pros = evrything about it

I struggled to find a setup that worked on a bumpy dirt track, and still dont know if I will find it, but in the last race last year on that track, I had broken my last x6 chassis, so I had to use my B4, and it worked a lot better... So maybe the downside was that I was the only one with an x6 at that track, but now there are at least 2 more.

one other issue that has been mentioned, is not only the fortune I spent on option parts, but also the fact that it took me a lot of time to figure out that I actually needed them... now with the Ellis kit and EC, I guess that is a lot better too.

The only thing negative in my book at the momen is the ugly body, maybe due to the lipo mounted across.

When I sold up a few years back, I only kept my radio, and my X6. I liked it so much. It's very, very easy to drive and has been said it's like driving 4wd when the grip is high.

I liked mine so much, when it started needing a few parts upgrading, I went for the Ellis kit, to get all the good bits in one hit. I do think it can be an expensive car, if you like the bling parts. I had a 3 gear X6, so I needed to upgrade, so it was worth it for me.

I absolutely love driving it, I like the look of the Cougar, but again as has been said, there are many cars that are capable of winning, so you pays your money and take your pick...

I think so. Don't know for certain all the U.K. dealers, but I think they are now one. Darren's on vacation with the family for the weekend, so you're stuck with me.

Really good car and very rewarding! Downsides, not many if any real ones.. Its a bit ugly but it works so what the hell, it can be expensive but im sire as many would say, most of the biys people use are options, when i first got my non sq X-6 i ran it out of the box and it was very good!

You could always try a CR! Ive gone back to the losi and im loving it!
