What fits?

Can anyone tell me if these 501 parts fit the 511?

Diff outdrives and the diff pulleys
Driveshafts (front and rear)

Cheers

GRIFF55 26-04-2010 07:00 PM

Yes, diff outdrives are the same.

Driveshafts MIGHT be different - I think 511 ones are the WO ones, but the 501 ones aren't?!?

What's WO mean then Simon?

I'm just going to strip it down and have a look :)

Correct.
Different driveshafts, but 501X fits 511 and vice versa.
The 511 drive shafts are the DB01 WO (Wide Operating Angle) drive shafts.
Front upright for WO front drive shaft is different (950 inner bearing).

Most 501X parts fit 511. Damper towers, pulleys, belts, outdrives, suspension arms, dampers, caster blocks, rear hubs etc.

Chassi, upper decks, bulkheads (front, rear, center), camber mounts and rear (front) suspension mount are different. 501X Rear (rear) suspension mount is also different, but fits 511. The 501X has less toe-in.

I had a lot of spare parts for my 501X WE, so when I got the 511 I only purchased new spare drive belts (reinforced ones), high traction arms and front uprights (for WO drive shaft).

Thanks Fredrik, so am I right in saying that the rear driveshafts are the same on both cars?

Fredrik Emilsson 27-04-2010 06:36 AM

Sorry, I only wrote part nr. for rear drive shafts.

TRF511 has the #54119 DB01 Assembly WO Univ Shaft - Wide Operating Angle (Rear) and the #54118 DB01 Assembly WO Univ Shaft - Wide Operating Angle (Front).

501X does´nt have these, but they fit on both DB01, 501X and 511.
So the 501X standard drive shafts also fit the 511.

simoncrabb 27-04-2010 09:58 AM

I've also found you can run the front WO driveshafts on normal '10' front hubs by using a 10x3x5mm bearing on the inside.

Esky do some for some helicopter that I use.

That in turn means I can use alloy GPM front hubs on both db01 and 511.
