KO 2.4

I'm thinking of getting a new radio set. Has anyone got any plusses and minuses to the ko 2.4 system compared to the spektrum please??
Also where is the best pace to get a goooood deal on the esprit 3 with this system?
cheers
Andy Griff

Sometimes my KO system decides not to bind

Just turn everything off and back on again and it'll work but it does get annoying

I stuck with the 40 meg KO universe for the reasons Tom has mentioned. Some peoples seem fine, others have persistent binding issues.

Fantastic handset though, very pleased with mine :)

Griff, I got mine from Amain and checked it had the revised circuit board in the receiver (they used to have issues when other handsets were about), mine was always fine!

They seem to have changed receiver model now by the way, not sure what the current up to date one is but don't think it's the one which comes with the esprit 3!?

Ooh can't remember, search the radios part of RCTech and it's on there, the official ko thread. I'll take a look on there too!

You could just go for a Futaba system Griff

Apparently the new spec modules have red marks on the circuit boards by the pins!?

Griff, there's Sanwa too, I like mine although I think a newer version is coming!

GRIFF55 25-04-2010 10:26 PM

Think there's a video here: http://www.microtechracing.com//prod...+KITS+2%2E4GHZ

receivers are bigger than ko, but smaller than futaba!

Rich, there's sanwa replacment somewhere in the works, but no timeframe on it, the current recievers will be compatible with whatever the new syyem is too! Not sure if a new KO system is coming?

ive seen people having problems with spektrum they get car on track and it goes about 4metres away from them then shuts down not sure haw you sort that all tho i run it and mines fine! also theres a thread in this section where alot of people have been having problems with futaba 2.4 where receiver over heats.

pugboy 26-04-2010 08:41 AM

 vote for ko 2.4 system, I run Ex1-UR (steerwheel) with same module as the universe, with 408s receiver in each car, I have not had one single problem in a year. I know some people have issues that seem to be related to contacts on the module with the tranny.

paulc 26-04-2010 08:59 AM

i had the ko 2.4 gear in my ko univirse and like other people have said i was having binding problems gone back to 40 mhz stuff and everythings fine great handset

I used spektrum for years, when I moved to HK I left all of my stuff in the UK for my dad to use (aren't I generous). When I started racing again in HK I bought an Esprit 3 with a KO 901S module and a KR408S receiver. It has caused me no end of problems. At meetings here there can be 20+ people practicing at the same time, the only way I could get the receiver to bind to the transmitter was to walk away from the rostrum, out the car park and down the road, switch everything back on and then walk back to the track.

I complained to KO, and returned the module and receiver to them. They updated the transmitter module to a version with a blue pcb inside. Unfortunately; as I found out at the next race meeting, this did not fix the problem.

In the end I gave up and bought a new spektrum module and receiver with which I haven't had a single problem, good job rc stuff tends to be cheaper here :) The KO equipment is sat on my desk doing a good job pretending to be a paperweight. To be honest I don't know what else to do with it. I'm not going to use it and I don't want to sell it to somebody knowing that it doesn't work correctly. (it works fine when no other transmitters are around).

I hate to bad mouth things but that's been my experience with KO 2.4

sounds like ko has a good name for them selfs for there name then dunt it!not hearing good things bout there radio gear by the sounds you wana bind it before you go to your race meeting and leave it on all night and hope for the best

Im using the KO ex5 -ur and it's been faultless. It came with two 407s receivers which was a bonus.
