acetone and proline tyres (or B4 rims on RB5!)
 

Hi
Does anyone know if you can remove proline tyres with acetone without killing the rubber? I know sch yellows come off ok, but the greens get ruined. I have some bow ties on B4 rims i need to get off for use on an RB5.

Alternatively, does anyone know of the optional rear axles that allow Losi/B4 rims on the RB5? I've heard about them but wasn't sure if they were out yet?

the part number is umw502 wheel shaft proline wheel, i have one in stock so yes they are available.

I've acetoned proline tyres with no ill effects - so I guess the answer is yes. Greens can be got off without damage if you use a shallow level of acetone so only the very edge of the tyre is touching, and take the tyre off when it's only just possible, don't wait for it to be 100% unglued.

Alternatively, you could steam them off... Buy a £10 steamer and fill the teirs up.. Leave them for an hour!! I must admit you do not get 100% success rate, but it may be worth a try!

I always steam my tyres off, and then clean the wheels up in acetone if need be. It saves having to cut the tyre off, and doesn't damage the insert.

Although, to answer your question, it doesn't damage the rubber of M3's as far as i can tell. ;)

throw'em in the oven at 300 degress for 20 minutes... they'll pop right off ;)

You can also use b4 front rims if you want. Just mount b4 steering blocks and you done. There is a problem because the allignment of the steering system is different to the kyosho steering blocks. but i think that by using b3 steering blocks this will be eliminated.
