Make sure you claim your compensation for the special deliveries.

Getting a bit fed up the PO bashing of late, or at least with those who rise to the bait, theres people around who are busily trying to sell off YOUR post office to themselves of course, why would you buy it if its that crap eh?

Are you also aware that those 'other' delivery companies only take the personal mail from the customer, then palm it off onto Royal Mail anyway!!! Yes...dont tell you about that on the news do they ?

Theres also a nice line in tons of junk mail that goes to every single house on the run, weighs an absolute ton and your original mail run still to do, with no extra time to do it in. And if your trying hard to get your run down quickly, you can be sent back out on another run in an other area that you dont even know!!!

Just bear it mind when Royal Mail is the one carrying all those other private carriers of personal mail....please?

NEXT!

So I paid for special next delivery 2 days ago and cos the bank holiday it wont get there? Also I dont think anyone was slagging off the local postie. more the royal mail as a company. So Easy tiger!!!

ClydeBuilt 16-04-2010 07:37 AM

Glad we agree then Chris.....I've been unfortunate a few times now to have bout kit off the bay and found myself at the start of a holiday, so yes your 1000% right, they shouldnt offer next day delivery in these cases.
Believe me when I tell you that they ARE trying to kill off Royal Mail, aided and abetted by stupid internal policy.
No offence intended, you just hear the PO bashing everywhere buddy...soz!

Special Delivery is next WORKING DAY, which does not include Saturdays or Public Holidays, if it isn't then delivered by 1pm on the next working day, you can claim the postage back.

Recorded don't mean next day, nor does 1st class recorded.

Now 3 days into the next day special delivery. And the lad i sold the stuff to has now gone back to singapore!!! NICE!!!

So ive now got to sort out delivery back from the hotel in brighton back to me, which wont be easy then £90 to singapore!!! Love the Post Office!!

ive been to post a few engines ive repaired for people today via special delivery, the nice lady told me they are not guaranteeing special delivery getting there on time as there is some strike on with the aeroplanes that move the mail about..so you can pay for special but no guarantee it will get there ontime at this time, maybe this is why the mail has been slow these last few days?

dont know how long this is to go on for tho.

Chris Griffiths 16-04-2010 03:48 PM

Oh that could be why!!! Cheers Dave.

Best thing is this guy may not be able to go back to singapore 2nite so may get this parcel?

It is not a strike but that most UK and northern european air space has been closed due to safety issues of the volcanic ash from Iceland. Must be causing horrific issues for companies such as Royal Mail.

James

DCM 16-04-2010 04:32 PM

it should only really affect international male, although domestic parcels should be slower. the volcanic ash hasn't closed any roads....

ClydeBuilt 16-04-2010 05:25 PM

It is....believe me!
Airmail has to be sorted as usual then stacked into special pods made to fit the planes, you only have some many pads, but a shedload of mail to backlog...where do you think that gets stacked ? That also slows down your mail process time.
Not just international airmail, some mail gets flown up here to be sorted, then either flown back down or lorried off to other local offices.

Its a nightmare....but if you had a look at the millions upon millions of items that arrive daily with no problems, the pictures not half bad. Not for you if your missing an item certainly. And Im referring to Royal Mail only here remember, if you use Parcel Farce then your on your own.
