The new weight distribution of my Mad Rat
 

Hi,

I wanted to try a new weight distribution, so I use a low profil savox servo, put the ESC on the rear, and the Lipo betwen.

I have to improve a lot of things, like the wiring from the receiver and maybe the battery plate, but I can test this set up tomorrow at the track.

easier way to get more weight at the front is to just stick 100-150g of lead weights around the front servo. cures all understeer issues.

I've got a similar setup in my rat Kedal, using a low profile servo and shifting the battery further forward to get a bit more weight over the front. I've still got my servo mounted the usual way however. I do find it has helped without increasing the weight in the car.

let us know how you get on with this layout, thinking about buying a new b4 chassis to try different layouts on :D

Well, big test today on a slippy track, well, after this test I just have to say Whaou !
The car has a lot of steering, the rear has a very good motricity, the car is very stable on track and on jump.
Less weight on the side makes me turn faster on the middle speed corner. On the top speed corner, I'm on rail, and on low speed corner, I turn very good.

I think the car has never been so fast, so agressiv and so cool to drive.
I like this weight distribution because I have motricity and steering without add weight. The car weights 1480gr, so I can add some weight where I want, if I want.

So, the test was good, but end before the end because I broke a rear Hub :(

Now, I'll try to improve the wiring and the battery plate !

Here are the pics - not great quality as the camera on my phone isn't very good. As you can see the lipo I have in is smaller than standard size so I could fit the ESC where you have. I couldn't fit a standard size battery and have the ESC there without shifting the servo further forward and it would be a tight fit.

With your layout, you have certainly more steering, but don't you loose motricity, with less weight on the rear ?

I've not had a problem with rear end grip so far - the car is very light (1.35kg) and has a 33/66 front/rear weight distribution now and seems pretty well balanced. I use velcro to hold the battery in place with the strap to stop it bouncing about - so I can adjust the battery position further back to adjust the balance if required.

I've only just started using it outside (mainly used it on medium to high grip indoor surfaces so far) so it may get tweaked further.
