Reading through the minutes at the mo'.

Shocked and amazed that foam tyres we're banned! I understand all the hoo-haw (is that how that's spelt?) on the suspicion of people using additive, but even if there we're, you should be able to see people doing it, certainly smell it (even the very low odour ones), and the car would very likely leave blank streaks on the track. I know someone else on the other forum pointed out that Gecko has supported the series almost from the start, and it's doesn't look good. I mean, doesn't bother me about tyre choice, as I've switched to rubbers anyway, but a lot of people still run foams.

Got to rule 26, and noticed that only one person voted for, when there should have logically been 2 votes for it, what happened there?

DCM 12-04-2010 03:39 PM

just because someone seconded it, after discussion, it don't mean that they fully agree with it.

Gecko work better with additive, period. If you rule out additive, you either got to trust the drivers, or remove the temptation, better to remove temptation in most instances.

sldmodels 12-04-2010 03:56 PM

Oh I understand the first point, but you would expect at least 2 votes for.

Understand about additive on foams too, but just shocked that the micro section, who we're so pro-foams have banned it.

It may be after discussion at the EGM the seconder has changed their minds.

In terms of good news though, have you seen the application form for the nationals Sarah?
There's a section for the clubs to detail the disabled access available at the venue.

sldmodels 12-04-2010 04:40 PM

only skimmed through the application form, so didn't notice, but thanks for mentioning it, now I can do this -

FINALLY! MY WHINGING, MOANING AND COMPLAINING HAS ACHIEVED SOMETHING!

Now for the simple things, like world peace, honest government, and chocolate on the NHS.

*takes a bow*

I was thinking of applying to possibly host/get involved with national in a year or so but did not realise the size of venue needed. My venue is only 16m by 12m, not even long enough for the 20m straight LOL... shame...I have the full disabled access and facilities though :D

Still...I'm liking the direction things are going on a national scale for 1/18th :)

c0sie 12-04-2010 05:49 PM

I think its a sign of the direction that we are going that we are looking to fill such big venues :)

I cant want till October :)

kaylon 12-04-2010 06:00 PM

Still..making the minimum track dimensions bigger and bigger and start to match 1/10th size tracks will make holding 1/18th scale events more problematic.

One of the reasons why I've been supporting and pushing towards 1/18th was it's more accessible for people with smaller venues. That's all changed now.

Even the small change on paper from 1.75m to 2m for track width makes a huge change in track design for my hall. And I'm sure that's the same for many people.

Maybe so, but the members have spoken.

Just because our National series runs to such dimensions doesnt mean that local clubs still cant run micros within their halls.

Do that, and feed your drivers to our National Series :)

kaylon 12-04-2010 06:06 PM

Absolutely Cris...that's the plan :D

Jason.

I do think that the main straight requirements means that we lose too many good clubs, LB and Wycombe I think wouldn't be able to host.

LB was small last time, but it was still a good track, still, if it works it work, if it doesn't someone will suggest changing it.

frogger 12-04-2010 11:57 PM

Jason, nothing stopping you from hosting a micro open event. We are generally speaking a very easy going bunch and we look for every excuse to race our micro's so don't let the national track requirements put you off. As they say: build it and they will come

mk2kompressor 15-04-2010 01:49 PM

so what tyres do we need to run :eh?:

sldmodels 15-04-2010 01:52 PM

rubbers

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know several people will lol), but the trend has been to be going towards Schumacher rally blocks in white and yellow. And from the little running I've done in them personally, they're not a bad tyre.

If you want to enter the next series of nationals then you will need to run whatever rubber tyres fit your car. Rally Blocks work best on Sharks. If you run at club level you can run whatever that club allows, at Wycombe for example we allow anything except Schumacher Mini Pins.

mk2kompressor 15-04-2010 06:41 PM

ok cool but dont forget i have the rc18:thumbsup:
ill run the ones that came with the kit for now, should get some rally blocks before they sell out:o

Matisse 15-04-2010 07:46 PM

rally blocks don't fit the rc18 dude, search ebay.com for some proline rc18 tyres.
