Exponential Help
 

I use the throttle exponential to make the bottom end of the trigger smoother. The first half of throttle movement doesn't make the buggy do anything silly so its great for tight parts of the track but then full throttle still gives all the power for the straight and to clear jumps with a small run up.

I only started to use it when I went onto new 40c lipos and the instant punch was too much for the slippy floors I run on ;).

If you have a Spektrum Dx3s/3r transmitter you have to use positve expo :woot: to calm things down. It maybe the same for other Spektrum products.

If not on Spekky you'll more than likely use negative expo

ok cool...I just got the dx3s....so positive calms things down...interesting on my futaba it was different....How about on steering.

I'm positive you use positive on the steering :thumbsup:

try it and see, wind expo full either way to see the difference

generally use no more then 20%

I'm on 15% for on road carpet and for off-road

I understand now what its function is...but lets say ur in a jam and u have to steer quickly out of the way or else u crash...wont the expo contribute to that if its set to numb the steering or throttle? its tricky..itll help with handling but in extreme situations it might kill you?:eh?:

The exponential doesn't slow down the steering response or numb anything. If you move instantly to full lock, you will still get full lock on the car as fast as the servo can move. Exp has zero effect in this situation.

What a negative exp does is give you less initial servo movement for a given amount of transmitter movement. This will make the car feel less twitchy in a straight line when you are correcting small movements.

Gotcha...Totally understood. What's a good start point then for steering and for throttle?

steering I generally use 15%

throttle, never used it

im a wheel man. never used it on the steering but i run -15% on the trigger :thumbsup: im run nosram stuff and it has so much bottom end it makes it so much smoother

I run about -10% on the throttle which gives you that little bit more control for rolling it at slow speed.

For the steering i generally use -15% which just gives you that little bit more forgiving steering on the higher speed stuff. I find in the touring car -25% suits better for indoors, at a guess thats because the cars twitchier and faster.

Just started playing with it on my dx3r. At +35 and it felt pretty good, going to try +30 this week.

Have only set it up on the SX so far.

Should have tried it on the Helios. Other thing I am tweaking is wheel tension

Would this be throttle curve / steering curve on a ko vantage type R?
Never bothered with any handset settings as I've always left it to the thumb but willing to experiment!

For me I have a Helios and DX3R. Currently trying the DX3R

I ment is that the setting which needs adjusting to alter the expo on a ko type R, doesn't say 'expo' on the menus, can some one confirm this?
