Because they're asking you if you know you've done wrong!

On (polythene) bags of bananas in Sainsbury's last year - "Great when peeled"

Where is the idiot who tries to eat a banana with the peel on? It used to be said there's one born every minute; isn't that nearer 30 seconds these days?

mrspeedy 31-03-2010 09:32 PM

Or warning on a 3" toy boat ... "not to be used as a buoyancy aid " :eh?:

Because you can eat a bannana without peeling it.

On my CD player it says not to look directly into the laser....Bit difficult unless you've got a 5mm thin head to fit in the slot. LOL

Safety warnings for everything nowadays. Whatever happened to common sense eh?

Jamie....

Common sense went when it was accepted for people to be ignorant; when not understanding something became cool.

My thinking on this, is this:

If your too stupid to do any of these things, then its your own damn fault, and nature is taking its course and the evolutionary process

Titch 03-04-2010 10:27 PM

If they didn't put the safety labels on the products they get some idiot who sues them for not telling him Peanut Buter contains Peanuts when he has an allergic reaction.

Isn't the evolutionary process being interefered with? Now, if you're an idiot, you're likely to survive!! :o

As has already been said, it's the "If There's Blame There's A Claim" mentality which has been driven by the Great American Legal System (or the Compo Culture as we in the UK know it) which had it's heart in the right place (google "Ford Pinto memo") but as evolved into these examples quoted above that we know and love.

Once upon a time somebody spilling coffee over themselves in McDonalds would have sworn at themselves under their breath and tried to slope off to the toilet to clean up and hope no one saw them making a tit of themselves. Now of course, they sue because no one told them the coffee was hot, they now have post traumatic stress syndrome and will never play the piano again etc etc.

It's by no means a new phenomenon though. I well remember back in 1988 when I got my first car ('73 Beetle 1200) I bought a Krooklok - hands up who remembers them - and embossed in the plastic at the steering wheel end it said "REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING". I thought this was hilarious, I mean, as if anybody could ever be that stupid...look at us all now eh.
