Waterproofing???
Ok I've read enough "guff" about racing in the rain and the problems that it causes so instead I thought why not try and beat the weather, all be it,the best we can.Any ideas on weather proofing? I reckon the receiver et al can still go old school and get in a balloon but what about the speedo? Anybody had trouble with servos getting wet and playing up? This thread is to try and make wet weather racing a little less formidable and hopefully we can all learn a little something-I really don't want my car to go BANG!;) With Summer the way it is we've got to find a way:)

I actually fit my reciever into a 35mm film casing with a hole drilled in the lid for the wires. I then fill the gap with bluetack after putting the wires through.
I've not found any sure fire way of waterproofing the speedo, so far i've always just tried to keep the water deflected away from it. I havnt ran the LRP Sphere in the wet yet though so I need to find a way to waterproof the sensor wires also. |
Cover up the holes in the speedo with blue tack and cover the sensor wire with blue tack. And use gaffer tape and cover hole in the bottom of the chassis and put tape around the edge of the body. I tired this i didnt get to run it at the meeting but i tried it on my drive aferwards and i drove about for 5 minutes took the shell of my xx4 and there wasnt a drop of water inside.
