Ive just ordered stuff from maplin online. Came next day very very good price.

Antex or Weller seem to be good.

Antex 660tc, it's a temp controlled iron. So you can leave it on all day if needed. I've been using one for the last 10yrs at this stage.

Finding my 80w weller a little awkward for the finer stuff.

I use the maplin 48W lcd iron for small scale stuff at home, Its a bit underpowered for motor terminals big stuff but its great for circuit boards and small wires. As an electronics professional I am picky about irons, but that one is great. The maplin 60W looks good also. Ive not used one but the extra power will be helful. Of course if you have the cash get a weller 45W TCP or an ERSA digital 2000A (my fav at work). Always use good quality solder!! important.
