Team C TC04
Anybody got one?
Looks to be a great car, and Team C has just put a few aluminum upgrades on their website... I'm just waiting now for spares to become available. Jon |

I'm sure Ansmann will get a discounted price, but they would then sell the car at or above the price directly from Team C... Why would Team C allow Ansmann to sell the car if Ansmann sold it for a lower price than direct from Team C?
The car does look nice though. Seems like a very similar design to the ZX5 FS , Academy SB V3, HPI Cyber 10b, etc... Not sure I like the motor mount, but it will be a good candidate to use as a doner car for a homemade carbon chassis. If they dropped the price a little to compete with the current cars on the market I'd have one already; I'm thinking just below $200 would be perfect. Jon |

I've seen the TR04 in Harmony models in Hong Kong but it looks like they don't have the TC04 yet. When I contacted RCMart they said that they didn't have a delivery date. Wouldn't surprise me if it's not actually out yet. Has anybody asked tcmodels if they actually have stock?

The Team C TC02 can be bought at RCMART for $99.90usd. That's a real good price if you ask me. The Team C TC02 shocks are hard anodized, unlike the Ansmann Pro-X green shocks. I have to say those hard anodized shocks are really smooth, better than some well known brands... :D

RCMart has a GREAT price on the 2wds...
Just no spares. :( |
RCMart is quite an interesting model shop, unlike any model shop I've been to before. It's essentially just a big warehouse with a front desk. It feels a bit like shopping at a trade counter. If you are looking to get a teamc car I might be tempted to contact these guys and enquire about price http://www.harmonymodel.com.hk/contact_us.php it's a bit of a shame that their website is not that great as the stock and service they offer is fantastic. I popped in yesterday and took a close look at the TR04 and was quite impressed, I also know they have TC02 in stock.
I don't know what in the line of spares for these cars they hold, you have to remember that buggy racing is not very big at the moment in HK, the most popular class is on road and because this is actually what is raced this is what the shops generally carry spares for. It was noticable at last weekends race in HK that a lot of people were wearing new TeamC Racing t-shirts - looks like they are definately making an impact here. I'll probably get my hands on a TC04 as soon as I can and will post some pics on the build here. Paul. |
The basic Ansmann X4 Pro in the UK will be £189.99 and will be available later in April. It will of course require motor and all other electrical parts.
Info is from Fusion Hobbies and Shaun from Ansmann Racing UK. K |
Is that not a bit pricey compared to a Bmax (which the X4 Pro looks very similar to)

Don't get me wrong, I like Ansmann / Team C cars and I think the mad rat is well designed (even if those designs were 'borrowed') but for £180 you can get a proven car that needs a bit of upgrading, or spend a bit more and get a full spec competition car. X4-Pro may be very good, but new designs take a while to iron out the faults (Mad Rat shock mounts / T pieces etc) and I doubt you'll find many spares available track side. |

If that's the case then maybe we've stumbled upon another cost cutting difference between then Mad Rat and X-Pro - I've built 2 Mad Rats and a Macnum and had issues with the screws on all of them despite using good quality hex drivers.
But other than brand loyalty, do you still feel it's better to spend that money on a new, unproven car from a Chinese manufacturer than go for a proven Japanese design? Ansmann cars have given me a cheap way back into this hobby and I've been competetive (in my own limited way) with both a mad rat and master smacker, beating far more expensive cars. A big part of the attraction of using a cheap car is the feeling you get when you beat someone who has spent a lot more than you. The X4-Pro doesn't fall into that category tho and I wonder how many people will spend that money on a budget brand. |
