Speed Passion V3.0 Motors-Answers needed!!!!

Speed passion V3.0 series of motors.
Ive recently changed from LRP X12s to these 5.5t, 6.5t and 7.5t.
Using them with LRP SXX TC speedos

Love the mid range punch.
Love how smooth they are also.
Love the build quality and idea of removable soldering tabs too!

How the hell can i make them faster? They just havnt got the top end power that the X12s had!

Noticed theres a motor timing adjuster how does this work has anyone tried it????

Thanks

Just gear them up, I run 2 teeth higher on the pinion and 2 teeth lower on the spur than when I had the X12 motors in my 2wd and they are not slow :D

The trouble is that even though manufacturers are using the turn/wind rating there is a great deal of difference between manufacturers in the actual KV of the same turn/wind motor. In the case of Speed Passion it seems that a Speed Passion V2.0 6.5 has the same KV as the Speed Passion V3.0 7.5. The LRP X12 6.5 is 5400KV but the SP V3 6.5 is 5200KV

so what are we talking then? 25 or above pinion, less than a 78 spur?

I'm noticing a similar thing with my v3's, less top end than I expected. Was about to try gearing the bollocks off them, but it's good to hear that someone else already has!

Thanks Ellis

Did you mess with the timing aswell or leave it as per the out of box settings and just changed the gearing etc.

Are you running the 6.5 in your Cat SX?

What FDR did you go for?

Big G 04-06-2010 11:58 PM

I run 23/81 on my B4 with the V3 7.5 in there and I find that plenty fast enough. never tried my 6.5 in there yet
