lipo charging

Im trying to charge a 5000mAh 7.4v lipo battery using a core rc UDC 20
charger and when i try to start it it comes up with the following warning

Battery check low voltage

am i doing something wrong. im running the charger of a muchmore power master not off a 12v battery. how do i charge it

The message probably means your lipo is below it's recommended cut off voltage. Have you left the ESC leads connected to it even though you have switched the ESC off. If so the capacitor attached to the ESC can still draw current to keep it charged. You should always disconnect battery leads after racing and leave charge in the lipo pack.

Also check if you've got the charger set to 2S lipo and not 3S or it won't start.

if it is below 6v it won't charge with the normal method as its a safty feature. Normally a lipo is toast as you can recharge them, but before you toss it, try this

its a write up by a local vetren and it seems to work quite well, although I haven't tried it yet as I haven't needed to.

I,ve seen that method used to bring an otherwise dead lipo back to life and it worked. Just a gentle nihm charge till it reached 6.4v then back on lipo charge.

Do NOT do this if your pack is swollen

Definately what Mark said.

Also bear in mind that the performance and capacity are very likely to be worse afterwards.
