Pit Table

After attending EPR last weekend with a too small a pit table, what do people recommend?

russmini 13-03-2010 06:21 PM

Most people who do Rally X buy the one from Homebase. Think they're £26 ish... Been some time since i bought mine..

Metal frame and legs, with wood top. It is heavy ish and bulky, but you know it's gonna do the job you need it for :D

Found my big white plastic table on Amazon, they were about £35

mikeyscott 13-03-2010 06:29 PM

Cool I'll check them out.

I remember in the old days people used to bring picnic bench style tables.

Need to get a few things before I attend EPR on the 11/4 if it's a go.

these are good B&Q

MattADH 13-03-2010 06:52 PM

Those ones are very good...

mikeyscott 13-03-2010 07:00 PM

Time to take a trip to b&Q.

How well do they fold down?

MattADH 13-03-2010 07:07 PM

The ones from B&Q are OK if you look after them! The wooden top tends to delaminate, the self tapping screws can fall out, some dont open great and the clips to hold them shut can snap!

TBH, I have a Viking pit table that's very heavy-duty but they are not cheap. You can stand in the middle of mine!

I would avoid the B&Q one - you can get the folding plastic ones on ebay as well.

the plastic B&Q pasting table works really well and is pretty light too, the metal ones, with the wooden tops are a right mare, I have one of each, and the wooden/metal one always feels like it wants my finger tips!!

Same story... Something good gets dropped when we all love it. Kyham did the same with their 'Pit Tent'. Luckily Attwools picked up with the 4 sided, but not the bigger Hex version... :(

Are these pit tents any good? How are they in the wind?

Yep that's the one, good table, but the handle breaks off easily, I use a bit of rope as a handle now.

Worth a look in CostCo as well - I've seen 6ft plastic tables in there which looked pretty stable.
