Diff Issues (XXX-CR)
 

Having some problems with building my diff. I stripped it down, rebuilt it with me plates but couldn't get it set so it didn't slip. I've now changed the balls, the plates, screw, nut and spring and I'm still having problems.

Basically, even when its really tight (I mean, far too tight), its still slipping.

Are there any issues with the XXX diff or any tips on building them?

If your at Southport on Sunday Mat ill have a look, just check you have the bearings and washers in the right places

Make sure you have both bearing seated properly. Im trying to think i how i solved it when i had that problem other than just rebuild it again.

Did you grease the plates before you put them on the outdrives? Whats the actual diff gear like? Maybe a dodgey bearing? Check all the bearings individually

As far as I can tell its all seated correctly and the bearings all seem fine, its got to be something daft that I have done.

I rebuilt my XXX-CR diff recently with new rings and balls but was not entirely happy so decided to get a B-FAST Pro kit and it has so far made a big difference. I like the fact that with this kit the hard work of sanding them flat has already been done. I followed Lee Martin's how to build a diff from the TRF site as that is really the same build process for any ball diff.

Ta all, took Mr Dodd All of 2 seconds to spot I'd put the rings the wrong way around :)

All sorted now and running :) (Well, keep snapping rear shock towers but least the diff works)

did you put it steel rings against the outdrives copper against the diff balls?

I did yes, there the other way around now.

If the diff is built correctly, you may have used the wrong grease. I always use Associated AS6591 Diff Grease.

Schumacher grease FTW!
