Touring or offroad?

cmgreen 04-03-2010 10:34 AM

If its offroad i would advise a Associated B44, easy to set up and parts a quite cheap.

Bungleaio 04-03-2010 10:37 AM

Durango all the way. The best 4wd I've ever had, the initial cost is a bit high but the spares are very reasonable

Chris Griffiths 04-03-2010 10:43 AM

Sorry guys off rd!!! Ive heard mixed things of the Durango, people build them fine and there wrong, people build them wrong thats why they go wrong and that people have no probs atall. all very confusing!!!

SX's are popular at the club, Chris but you can always get an X11 too if stickpacks are a priority....

X11 looks awsome i think! Its not a priority ive just bought 4 SMC 50c lipos so would be ideal

If sticks are the priority, then I would go for the Cat SX 2. Seems a nice piece of kit, and very popular, alongside the B44 at club level. Can't really go wrong I reckon.

Chris - there are plenty of B44's used at the club so always spares available. Also, the B44 has some common parts with your X6>2 e.g. slipper, parts of the diff, hubs and bearings etc.

I have a spare you can try out this weekend if you wish - all set up for Formby - see how it feels.

Tamiya DB01R, enclosed drivetrain, stick lipo, great handling car

does the B44 take stick packs or the Durango for that matter??

was also looking for a stick Lipo car and its a narrow field, as mentioned the Cat SX, Original ZX5, Pred X11, Tamiya DB01R not sure if i would bother with the cheap version, LRP S10 Blast and Losi XX4 with some mods, Im actually tempted to give the LRP a go for the main reason if i dont like it im not out of pocket loads.

I'd get a B44 tbh. parts are easy and cheap enough to get and you can pick them up cheaply. also due to popularity if you break it and you're stuck it's likely someone will have a spare.

all the cat SX's at our club seem to break diff bolts regularly

durango's are expensive and see to be breaking a lot lately

Chris

Pred parts are not the easiest to get hold of either but they are an awsome looking car and very quick when you get it right.

Just out of interest why have you got 4 packs of lipo's?

mikeyscott 04-03-2010 04:04 PM

Cat SX or Cat SX2 when it arrives. Takes stick LIPOs and it has a good support around the UK at various clubs.

Chris

Just build it correctly then, and you'll have the best 4wd car money can buy;)

I was doing TC at the time and the plan was to do lots of practise at the track so didnt want to be waiting around for 30-40 mins waiting for a charge etc, plus got a good deal

I thought they would be ok to get from team xtreme? somthing else to look into i suppose
