I've got an infection
 
and I'd like to clean it up

it's called

vista internet security

and it's on a pals laptop

anyone removed it and how?

its free!! if it won't let you run or install it do a system restore to a date before it started and then download malwarebytes.

If it doesn't let you download Malwarebytes (as stated in the text) PM me your email address and I'll email it to you (the basic program is just under 5Mb) but then I suppose any of the other anti-spyware programs (like Spybot S&D) will find it to if you've got them installed.

look at your hard drive for programes named only buy numbers,ie( 3214568.exe) write them down a friend had 3 on there,restart pc in safe mode, run reg edit search for the whole numbers of dodgy proggys and delete em,

we had MBAM but virus program stopped it running

we now have MBAM running after going here

Malware bytes. If it won't run, change the exe name and it will then.
