li-po batteries and charger ?

im new to rc and visited robin hood raceway today. The guys there gave me some great advice and were really helpful. But they said i aught to be running my car on li-po batteres. They also said i could get them for around £35. I've had a look and they are all for around £100. I also need a charger. Does anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. thanks once again to the guy who gave me some tires and to James Helliwell for allowing me to use the track!!! :D

lipo from hong kong off ebay will get you going cheaply. I'm sure you can pickup a charge for about £30 also off there. non BRCA approved lipo packs will set you back like £20 each (sticks)

I just picked up some Orion 3800 Carbon edition lipos 35c for £60 for two packs. Second hand lipos are ok if they have been treated well (although they may go a little soft, but thats cool for club racing)

Dont go breaking the bank until you are into the sport for a while

I wouldnt get them lipos if i was you because they dont seem to be hard cased and that could very easily lead to an accident. That charger should be fine.

A battery like this would work and is relatively cheap http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._hardcase_pack

If you need a brushless speed controller and motor i could reccomend some.

Hope this helps

Second hand Lipo's are always coming up on the for sale section of the forum, all of mine are second hand and are much better than I will ever need in reality...

I paid £40 for a pair of trackpower 4900's and they are great, get two 5min races no problem at all.. Hardcased and BRCA approved... :)
