not even close to a amb system, this you will have with you when you go practicing.

All you need is a computer with Bluetooth or USB bluetooth dongel conected to your computer.
The TimeR has a big range of a 100 meters to send youre laptimes to youre computer in the pit. it hadels unlimited amount of transponders, that is good if you are a bunch of friends that practice together to use one system with a bunch of transponders.

Its all you need to get good practice with laptimes and even a good free practice tool on a race were you dont what to show youre laptimes to the competision =)

I think this product is a great idea .
Would love to have one for testing different setups & giving you an accurate lap time difference between each setups ...

But 330 euros is expensive for the common racer . . .

I do like the idea behind this product . But I think that it is intended to be used by an elite class of people ( top racers & rich people ) .

Sure this product will sell 200 maybe even 400 of them ...
Make it cheaper and sell thousands of them . every racer needs one of these ...

Don't get me wrong ; I'm not slagging the product .
I'm just saying if you make it cheaper ; you'll make a fortune .
I have seen quite a few lap counting product on the market . this one seems to out-shine all of the others :thumbsup: . But just like all the others ; It's too expensive & I only ever seen one one of them at the track ( & it was the cheapest one ) ;)

It is alot of money but it is a good eazy lap counting system for exampel a small club or a group of friends that want to keep track of laptimes and improvements.
AMB and a race software is sick money, last time i had a look it was 2500 euro for the decoder and almost a 1000 euros for the software, no transponders included =)

Alot of big teams have bin in touch with DCD to buy it, they like that it can handel more then one transponder that makes this one more interesting.

Looking at the website seems that the transponder communicate to the main unit using an infrared beam.

Is that right ?
What happen when two car pass on the finish line at the same time ?

Using this system it is possible to manage a club race or it is only good for pratice purposes ?

Is it possible to have 5 minute heats with intervals in between?

I know this is meant to be for practice laps but it's interesting to know if you can run a meeting from the software?

I think that the unit use an IR beam from the trasponder to the timing unit and the bluetooth technology only to send the data from the timing unit to the PC.

I think this is an in-expensive way to count your laps/race. If it's too much to buy for one person, get a few together to chip in or have a whip round at your local club, this brings the price per person right down;)

Plus I am sure my man BBQ will be happy if they sell loads:thumbsup:

@Ema: The reason why we placed the TimeR on a tripod is that you can place it in an angle towards the track. This makes it possible for the IR-beam placed inside the car to pass over the roof of other cars passing at the same time.

Of course there are limits to this as well. If you are running a 1/10 touring car at the same time as a 1/5 large scale, you CAN expereince problems. As long as you are running cars of similar size you should not have any problems.

If there are many cars on the track we suggest you place the tripod on something of about 0.5 meter height to increase the reliablility.

At this point the software can manage to run qualification heats (delayed start) and final mode (simultaneous start). You select which users that are in the race and the results are shown live in the race-tab. Whenever the race is finished you can export the results to a pdf and run another race. Beside the race results all the laps are stored in the corresponding user tab as well, for further analysis.

It is important to stress that we are not aiming to compete with AMB. But you will definitely be able to run small club races with a minimum of setup time and a much lower cost!

The TimeR uses a Class 1 Bluetooth link to the computer to provide the data in real-time. The TimeR can provide a free line of sight range of approximately 100m. However, the limiting factor will be the internal Bluetooth of whatever laptop you are using since they most of the time include a Class 2 Blutooth device. The idea is that if the range is enough using the internal Bluetooth you are fine, otherwise you can buy a USB-Bluetooth device which improves the range further.

We are aware that the device might seem a bit expensive, but considering that you can split it between your racing mates it will become more cost efficient than any other system out there.

I think this a superb thing. Especially for us who have just started a new club with only 8 members and no economy what so ever yet. we have to wait until our member status increces and we can afford a real AMB system.
