Brushless Gearing! Help!

Ive bought a 6.5 motor that isnt quite here but not sure If I can run the stockm spur (81 teeth) with a 17 tooth pinion, does anyone have this combo or does it not quite reach?

josh, when i race my lrp 5.5 at the club i normally race an 81 spur with either a 18/19 depending on the track, But i turn my throttle curve to about 30-40 so it doesnt get to warm:D

Does the 18 fit well. Im thinkiing 17 is a bit low and 18 would be about right. Does the 18 tooth get far forwrd enough to mesh good?

What i found is that the lowest you can go with an 81 spur is a 17 tooth pinion. A 16 just wont move far enough:)

Cheers, think Ill go with the 18. LRP/Nosram say 12.4 for a 6.5 in 2wd and with the 17t it would be 12.39. But lookign up people are using 20t pinions on 5.5s! So i think a 18 would be about right for me. Speed wont be an issue if you saw my car at Bury, I need some! :D

I've got a 6.5 with a 19tooth pinion on the 81 spur.. no problems. But i am running lipo so it's got the power to push it..

Yep about 20/21.

LRP 6.5 - 20/84 (if I had to use an 81 spur I would use a 19 pinion)
LRP 7.5 - 21/84 (tooth lower with the 81 spur)

I like the 84 spur because it allows the motor to be in a more 'normal' position compared to brushed setups.

I just got a LRP 7.5 and had to put in a 23/81 on the B4 to keep track with the 12x1 Brushed motors.
I'm going to the Belgien Grand Prix in two weeks time. And think I bette get an 6.5 for it to be fast enought on the high grip track.

slow is fast mate. take it easy with your setup as it is, and you wont crash as often as those 12x1 loonies :):D
