New charger
 

I could do with a new charger. What do people recommend buying?

I like the look of the Core rc UD30 or something like that. Any thoughts??

Best advice I have is... get one powered by 240v AC and 12V DC .. it saves needing a seperate power supply. I got mine from Modelsport, £60, dual power and balances Lipos.

Yeah but ive got a power supply so my thinking would be that it was a waste of a power supply. My power supply has been with me through thick and thin, many championships and National meetings. Im not sure i could let it down Chris and put it on the shelf??

Maybe thats why i struggle? Maybe its the fricking power supply?

the core chargers are good. of if you want an all in one unit the Bantam BC6 is a great piece of kit, but slightly more pricey

Hyperion chargers are dam good, depends what you are charging lipo up to what most chargers are 50 watts, and charge at 5 amps, so any chargers, if you are 1/10 you are fine

just go buy a imax b6 of ebay

What I've got is a G.T A6 From the Giant Cod, HERE , The postage is very fast, the colour does vary although i dont think it is stated, balance charge lipos upto 6 cell, and for only 35 quid its worth it :D

i like the look of these and for just over 100 quid not a bad price either charge 4 batterys at once too !!!

cellpro 10s works a treat recovers over discharged cells which the core won't charge. i blew mine up by reverse connection, after a few email the support guys helped me figure out the problem and sent out replacemeant parts free of charge, little bit of simple soldering vs return to usa for repair?

Bantam BC6 any day of the week. If you buy a cheap copy you'll save a few quid but is it worth the risk of damaging cells?

At least the bantam is distributed by trakpower so you can guarantee it won't be crap.

If you don't want an ac and dc one you can get the bantam BC8 which is dc only.

I'm using the PowerPal DC only as I have a power supply also (and like to have that available for soldering iron and other stuff).

Seems to be a good unit, always takes the cells to 8.39V on a high quality DVM so no danger of getting them thrown out at scrutineering and seems more than capable of everything I need it to do.

£50 from Microtech at the moment I believe.

I'm using the Team Orion advantage clubman lipo edition. I think it's a great little charger and it will charge up to 6 amps so you can charge any battery at their rating (1C) without a problem. But you do need a power supply.

P.S I got it for £38 but now its about £54 everywhere but thats the same as a core.

My recommendation is to buy a decent charger that will also see you good for the future. In my opinion 5A chargers are the low end of the range, 10A mid range and 15A - 20A are top of the range. It is also good to use a 12v power supply as some of the new high current chargers will drain a leisure battery in no time at all. As battery capacities increase you will need higher current just to be able to charge them in one hour at their minimum charge rate of 1C. Many years ago (2001 I think) I bought a high end charger the Schulze Chameleon ISL6-330 and until last year it was fine but now I need to be able to charge at higher rates so I have gone for a Hyperion DUO3 0615i and can charge two packs (up to 6S Lipo in series) at the same time at up to 15A. I hope will last as long as my Schulze charger has.

My new charger says to charge me lipos at 16A?!?!?!?! This cant be right can it?

What you really want, is one of these!

Two 300W chargers in one unit - now that's good (20A per charger). Got an iCharger 208B myself though - which is also excellent.
