1/10 buggy foam tyres???
Anyone know where I might get some foam tyres for a 1/10 buggy, used to run them years ago on carpet but cant find them now??????
|
there are some about, but not to sure on wheel fitment.
|
I searched and searched and ended up making mine out of 1/8th foam donuts, a tyre truer, some sandpaper and some off road rims + strong glue. VERY messy! But the buggy was on rails. I ran them on a ZX5 so hex fitment front and rear - Still have them lying in my cupboard!
There are other threads on this, here's mine: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32648 Dan ;) |
1/8 stock car tyres fit(the mardave type)with a bit of stretching! we use kse 34 for the rear and kamtec gold for the front on both 2wd and 4wd buggies. they have just the right amount of grip and seem to wear very well so far-mine have'nt even started to wear yet.
try kamtec models either on ebay or there website. bought a load for our club off him before christmas and they're very good. |
I used Enetti 1/8th rear foams, one foam does a front and a rear.
|
i left the ribs on my wheels as it helps the tyre stay on and gives it a bit of shape. sanded the edges well tho to stop the grip roll! used 2 thin strips of double sided tape to hold the tyres on-no sticky gluey mess and they havent come off after 3 months of use.
think it cost about £12ish for a set of tyres |
I've got a massive box full of Foam tyres trued up on old style Schumacher Rims if they are any use to you? I can't remember what size the standard Schumacher Hex was but these came from the Cat 2000 / 2000EC or 3000.

You can't buy them ready made as far as I know and so you need to buy 1/8th donuts and fit them to 1/10th buggy rims after you cut the ribs off.
http://www.rc-direct.co.uk/-c-39_198_205.html It looks good too because you can make them the same profile as a rubber tyre should you choose to and they work VERY well, better than mini pins on carpet! |
What about these, not sure what the hex fitting is though
