Uh O Super Glue Leaked.....

Some of you may have seen me trying to get one of the draws out of my poly butler at the weekend without much luck. Unfortunatly I had no such luck I tried leaving it with a file just to snap it in half. Just cant get it out. Its the draw a keep my super glue in so ive come to the ocnclusion its leaked and stuck the draw in place. So tonight set about getting it out usign some nice nail varnish remover...

carnt wait for the pick of the melted box, acetone/nail varnish will do that.

Be careful Ash, the plastic that those boxes are made of if not acetone proof.

I know im going back to check it every 10 minutes or so. Just tried it now and it wont come out. At the first sign of trouble its going under the hose pipe....

Looks more like practical joke than an accident to me....... Which simply isn't funny when peoples kit is ruined. Have you managed to get to the super glue bottle yet?Does it look like it leaked?

Personally, I would get something long, thin and sharp, and break the glue down between the draw and the poly, be far quicker.

disclaimer: I hold no responsibility if you slip and gut yourself like a fish!! :woot:

Tried that Ive just been leavering it with a 2 foot long 1 inch diameter drill bit and it wont budge. So ive take nthe dive and ordered a new one as the plastic is starting to go a bit soft.

Have you tried a hairdrier in a ventilated space. Glue softens under heat. Not sure if you could try the kettle on it to loosen the glue.

Failing that, fishing wire if you can wrap it round and use a sawing motion to remove the glue

Well...

Ive got it out!!

Jeremy clarkson style. using a hammer.. Managed to get a cross peen hammer behind levered on it alot and crack some of the glue broke. Moved it along a bit bit and CRACK
it came out. But unfortunatly i have had to dremel alot of the shelf above away still pleanty left. Nad there is not a hole in the back of the case. A bit of dremmelling and sand paper and a few sticks and it should be ok. Ill still see if the new one will come though....

Would have suggested immersing the parts in hot water (put it in the bath) as this method has worked for me in the past.

But I am not so sure of success if the bottle had been full of glue.
