Front heavy jumping
 

With the same setup as I bought it, which was being raced the day I bought it, my B4 jumps rather front heavy, to the point where I have to nail the throttle to get it to land with the front end preloaded to hell and back and nothing on the rear end, the ride heights are somewhat skewed to say the least :p It shouldn't really be the spring rates, or oil, and the preload is as rear soft and front hard as possible, so... what gives? :eh?:


edit: setup is front blues, rear silvers, unsure of oil weights but feels slightly thicker rear

Some jumps are just like that. Are they big of small jumps. At bury with the small jumps, nearly everyone nosedived due to the shape of the jumps, sometimes you cant really help it. If its on a big smooth jump, try altering your throttle on the way up the jump. Sometimes this can make a big difference

If your oil is slightly thicker on the rear this may be why its nose diving. Also try adding some wait to the back of the car it may help flatten the car out a bit.

If you run off the jump with no throttle you will land front heavy or flat, if u hold throttle you tend so roll backwards more. Have you got any weight in?

got 2 10's in the back one 5 on the bulkhead, oil shouldn't be the problem really as it's been set up like that for a race that day and went very well, it could well be the small jump, I was just using a folder in the drive, so I could see that throwing the back in the air as the front 'lands', i'll have to try it at cml on saturday, we don't have any big bits of card atm :D

only use the pre-load to adjust the ride height, set the rear dirveshafts level with the surface then set the chassis flat to the floor when looking from the side adjusting the front.

jumping over folders is nose-dive heaven, the front wheels are in the air before the rear wheels get to the jump, dont put any time into jumping folders.

By flat to the floor you mean rear driveshafts level and then the chassis parallel to the floor? And yeah I realised my mistake after tc2k's post :p

yeah know what you mean , my missus got it and has had nothing but problems with it ... the amount of times ive sat on there trying to locate drivers for everything ... typical microsoft though...

I beta test some of microsofts pre release products, i got messenger 8.5 and it killed my pc within 5 mins :D me thinks theres some bugs....

Vista is too obsessed with security, it's a bleedin nightmare. Doubt it'll be worth getting for home use for a good few years yet, unless you're a developer of course!

...back on topic though, does adding/removing spacers to the inside of the front dampers to alter the droop levels make any difference to the landing characteristics?

if you are talking just landing then yes it makes it better, it allows the wheels to touch down earlier and start to absorb the energy of the chassis as it comes in to land.

but, having a lot of droop can adversely effect the car in other areas, body roll, direction changes etc...
