Mick has been racing since 1989, I've been racing since 1992 and I think Ian has a good few years under his belt - should be able to answer just about any question......

Should be some good second hand equipment available also for you to check out!

If you're seriously thinking of buying a buggy, here's just a few things to consider before parting with all that hard earned cash:
  1. It's best to come out with whatever car you have already, and get racing - spending as little money as possible until you're properly hooked (It will happen!!). Have a good look at what's being used by club members and ask as many questions as possible.
  2. The main class the club runs is 2wd 1/10th electric off road. 4wd is also run once in a while, but rarely. A 4wd is usually something you would progress onto once competitive in 2wd.
  3. When considering buying a competitive 2wd buggy the following are all in use at the moment by club members and it may be a good idea to stick to one of these incase you have problems or want setups etc.
    Asscociated B4
    Losi XXX-Cr/Atomic Carbon CR2
    X-Factory X-6
Schumacher Cougar (coming soon??, ian h)
  4. Mick B carries and sells all the spares and accessories that you would ever need for the B4. I keep spares for the Losi/Atomic Carbon, but not nearly the same range as Mick. Mick also sells chargers, batteries, motors etc. etc. The X-factory car uses alot of B4 parts also. Generally, the track is easy on car and breakages are not too common, however accidents happen and having access to bits when you need them saves alot of hassle.
  5. It's a good time to pick up some quality 2nd hand equipment as the new outdoor season is fast approaching and it is generally when people change their cars.

Grundy 01-02-2010 12:28 PM

no, i already made the mistake of buying an rc truggy (HBX Surge X09) before talking to you guys. i won't be making the same mistake again!
