TQ Racing SW10 4w - 4WD Buggy sneak peek

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" http:="" www.oople.com="" forums="" images="" smilies="" ohmy.gif="" border="0" alt="" title="Surprised" smilieid="2" class="inlineimg"></o:smarttagtype>TQ Racing in the US sent us information of their new 4wd electric buggy - the sw10 4w. The buggy raced at the recent CRCRC Mid-West winter championship race.

Info:<o></o>
At the CRCRC Midwest Winter Championship race in <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Columbus</st1:city> <st1:state w:st="on">Ohio</st1:state></st1>, the new TQ Racing was spied in the pits.<o></o>
<o></o>
The newest challenger for the 4wd market will come in competition and ready to run versions. The new car features a composite saddle chassis with fully independent suspension featuring TQ Racing’s hard anodized, lightweight threaded shocks, full ball bearings, slipper clutch, titanium turnbuckles, front and rear differentials, as well as the normal compliment of adjustments.<o></o>
<o></o>
The car was not run in the event, as it was just received by team drivers just days before the event. Early reports from Team Drivers are that the car is very easy to drive, really smooth and easy to drive fast. TQ Racing Team drivers are now starting an intensive test program to make sure the car that is brought to public is fast reliable and AFFORDABLE.

<o></o>
That’s right AFFORDABLE. The TQ Racing’s design goal from the start has been simple: “Make it Fast” and “Make it Affordable”.

<o></o>
TQ Racing debuted its electric off-road competition car product line in December of 2009, with immediate success. JP Richards used the SW10 2w two wheel drive car to win the 2wd Super Stock Class and finish 3rd in 2wd Modified at the J Concepts Clash in <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Tampa</st1:city> <st1:state w:st="on">FL.</st1:state></st1> David Alberico finished 2nd to World Champ Jared Tebo in 2wd Modified and Truck Modified at the Turkey Shootout in KC, MO. JP Richards and Johnny LoGiuice finished in the 2wd Modified A Main at the CRCRC Mid West Championships in <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Columbus</st1:city> <st1:state w:st="on">Ohio</st1:state></st1><o></o>
<o></o>
TQ Racing would like to thank Rodney from http://crcrc.blogspot.com for the photographs.<o></o>

Looks like a Yokomo/Hot Bodies hybrid (Yoko Bodies)

Nevertheless, looks pretty good.

Yeah it looks like a cheaper B-Max4;)

Interesting motor mount idea, looks like it would act as an effective heatsink.

DCM 22-01-2010 11:29 AM

As long as the clamp holds firm, and you get not motor shift, on hard landings..... will be much less 'fiddly'

James 22-01-2010 11:40 AM

Is this going the be the caster buggy over here

CODMAN 22-01-2010 11:57 AM

Well, that depends on whether Annsmann take up their right to distribute the car, in the UK, under their own brand name. If they don't, they someone else could, or even bring it in under the 'Team C' banner, which I think, may be a better option, to be honest. As I think, parts and technical support may be easier to acheive.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The production work does come from Team C but we work closely with them to make design changes that will benefit the car's characteristics, like we have done with the 2wd and truck. Ad we test more and find more, changes will probably occur from what you see now.

Actually, that is very good to hear. I thought the TC02 had potential, there were a few rough edges, and a few minor changes that needed making.

Peet it does dispurse the heat very well and if you have the alloy centre bulk head as well this also helps

Will bring mine with me next time im over to caldicot so you can have a look

Northy 22-01-2010 07:16 PM

Anything to do with JQ? Oh, no, it exists :woot:

Will be interesting to see how this buggy goes.

nikos2002 23-01-2010 04:47 AM

DCM - the 2wd car - SX10 2w - has been doing tremendous here in the US. Last two major offroad races in the US - it won the Superstock Classand finished 3rd in modified at the J Concepts Clash. And last weekend there were two in the modified a main at the CRCRC Mid West Champs.

DCM 23-01-2010 09:41 AM

How did you work the shocks, on the Annsmann version, I could never get the front end to be compliant, so couldn't get it to turn in.

nikos2002 24-01-2010 01:47 AM

Hard to give an exact answer on not getting the car to turn in. Lots of variables there from your setup, tires, track conditions. JP Richards sets for the SX10 2w should be posted on the tqracing.net website shortly to see what he used at the Clash and CRCRC.

As for the shocks themselves. TQ knew getting the shocks right was one of the biggest hurdles in off-road vehicles, so a lot of work went into choosing the right parts.

What i did was to change all 4 shocks piston to Top Racing Photon shock pistons. They are a prefect fit. The stocks pistons does not give me enough rebound and compression.
