Top Gear!

After just catching up with the episode's of Top Gear i missed on BBCI player, is it just me or are they seriously running out of idea's? :(

I think so - getting a bit stale and silly to be honest. Needs a revamp!

Shaun_23286 21-01-2010 04:52 PM

I agree, they are slowly moving into "specials" only i think without even realising it, how many more countries can they drive across in cars for £1000. :bored: Plus i don't think Hamster has really been the same since the accident, i don't know i cant put my finger on it, it just doesn't grip me like it used too.

Its all just fantasy now. Cant remember the last time they did a good review on a car the ordinary man in the street could afford, its all footballers and popstar playthings now.

It just seems toooooo scripted and like a comedy show (a bad one) that it's more of a cringe-fest than an enjoyable car show.

The problem is the format is all very similar, while some of the things they do are quite cool there is usually quite a large amount of very obviously scripted events in it.

Even things like buy cheap cars and drive across a country, I think that as an idea is still good but James will always buy something silly, hammond will buy something obvious and clarkson will get something unreliable...

I think the last "normal" car they did a good review on was the new Fiat 500 was'nt it? but then again even that was the Abarth version, still not a standard everyday car. I think Hamster should concentrate on Total wipe-out, Captain slow with his Famous Toys thing and Jezza should go back to doing his Extreme Machines.

mole2k 21-01-2010 05:07 PM

I would have to say that I would probably prefer them doing their own thing than TG really as James May does quite a lot of interesting shows hammond does total wipeout and jezza is quite good at the extreme machine type stuff.

Maybe a few years down the line bring TG back with a slightly spruced up format and it would be great again as they would be fresh and have new idea's.

I agree it is still a good idea and still very entertaining 80% of the time, i mean when jezza had to ride the bike through Vietnam - Class!!
But like you said it's just very abvious now, when you hear "The production team sent us to .......... with just 1000 pounds" you just know what's coming.

Dude, where you been? Thought this (type of) thread had been done to death already, still nice to see everyone still thinks the same - TG is a great concept but it's a shame the execution is getting worn thin.
