Attention - warning - Someone trying to hack my account, please advise....

Hmm just had an email from oople saying that someone has attempted to log in as me and has entered an incorrect email 5 times...

The person trying to login as me has an ip address of 86.11.87.65

Can anyone trace that, is it to the uk..

Just be warned, if its happenned to me, it could also happen to others.

Col.

Hmm, no other user on oople with that IP chief, so it's not an existing user?
I wonder why someone might try such a thing. Unless it's a scripted attack - which I have to say is a common thing on forums, generally using stuff like the users name for the password.
I can check through the site logs and see what else this ip has been up to tho

Hmm thanks Mick, and wow that was fast Jimmy lol.

It was either post something up to mention others about it, as they might get the same.

Some well known members could be posting up advertisements for viagra or even selling items that dont exist ( have seen this on another forum ).

Let us know, if anything crops up Jimmy.

Thanks

Col.

How would you know no other user has that IP? if they are on dynamic IP then they could have that one.

You can find out what range that set of addresses belong too, but can't remember how.

The IP is unique, in other words no - no one has ever used it on here before. Ever. That's what I meant. It resolves as NTL, which I also use at home and I think one of the lines at work is NTL also - ntl uses Static IP's always as far as I know as do most internet providers.
I did also search for 86.11.87 which again didn't show up anyone ever logging in using 86.11.87.XX:thumbsup:

Not looked at the logs yet

Fair enough. I know a lot of the cheaper tarifs on some other networks are dynamic ip's, dunno about NTL.

But if it was dynamic (ignoring the fact its an NTL one), it is possible (although unlikely) that 2 users could log on with the same IP.
