Grip Roll
 

took the Durga out for its first propper run and it was grip rolling when i turned ze corners which was mildly anoyying

Whats the remedy ?

What tyres are you running on what surface???

What setup are you running...

Erm tyres are the stock durga pins

and setup is stock running 30wt oil all round

I rolled over the 1st corner I came to running the SC10 on carpet trying to corner fast at high speed. 2nd lap I just took the corner more smoothly and not quite so fast and it went fine.

are you racing on carpet?

Try cutting the outer row of pins off. Or try a lightly firmer spring possibly an anti roll bar. Bext bet would be ask in the tamiya section or ask the local"good driver" what he thinks..

ha this isnt at a track its where i run my cars

I take them upto the local golf course (not on the course) they have a large pond and probs 10 acre grassed area with humps and jumps that in the summer turn into picnic areas

anyway i was running on wet short golf course type grass and if i turned at speed and not heavily lightly the outer front would dig in and the car would flip cleanly onto its wheels and probs cartwheel from then on

i think the car is a bit soft on the damping side of things but had plenty of grip and handled the bumps really well

Proberly worth running a slightly stiffer front spring..

As AshleyB4 says, if you stiffen up the front suspension or change/modify the tyres then that'll reduce front end grip and should help - other alternatives are to lower the front end, move the shocks to the outer holes on the wishbones (nearer to wheels) and inner on the car or adjust the wheel camber.

I found my Durga grip rolled in the little track time it saw between killing rear diffs

dunno why id want the high traction lower arms these seem to do the job

it tried to eat a diff today but it got eaten by a randy dog instead which decided it was a rabbit or some type of wild animal

so stiffen the front end move the shocks around and take some knobs off my wheels should solve my problems

new one is BEING shite at jumping and after todays abuse the wing is shagged

any reccomendations ?

You'll find when running on an open area, you will be turning in at unusually high speeds which wouldn't be the case on the track. So its highly likely you'll be able to make any car grip roll. You can stop it, but then that may cause other things - like having no grip, no turn in, or over steer, or poor bump handling if you stiffen it up. if you want to thrash around and have grip, then slow it down a bit when cornering, if you don't mind sliding (can be fun!), then loose some knobbles.

have fun, thats #1 priority though. (and get a slower dog!)

I know with the 1/8 off-road the cure to this problem with pin tyres is to at first cut an outer row of pins off and test, you can cut more off too until they perform as you like.

Adjusting roll centers may help too, raising the camber link on the inner location up will lower the roll center. That did help me so it could be worth a try, remember if you are setting up try and do just one adjustment at a time.

But in the whole scheme of things Chris is right, you aren't running on a track, there's no set course and you are "free to roam", rolling any car is probably easy to do in this environment.
