xx4 rear shock tower

hi all,

http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/997...ro2007ray3.jpg

i have done this modifacation to an old tower that unfortunatly broke at batley one meeting and i thought the bottom half was a waste because when you buy a rear tower you get the part that covers the rear diff and it also has the ball studs attached to it. i personally think that the rear graphite towers are expensive, but i know the plastic ones are cheaper by far. but i thought a carbonfibre rear tower would look rather nice and could be a bonus of giving the extra shock positions and such.

so i set about making one out of aluminium looking at the bottom half of the origional shock tower there was a perfect place to drill and screw into place the new tower, which is flat and ideal for it ( attached thumbnail 1 ) then this is what it should have looked like - ish ? ( attached thumbnail 2 ) with more work and some aero dynamic issues irioned out it will look far better than my shoddy drawing lol

i ran this shock tower at bury metro regional on saturday and the the car went fine, it felt really well over the bumpy sections of the track and seemed to be grippy on the back end. the only thing i didnt do and should have done is make more holes in the tower to give me more setting up options. i think eventually i might get a few towers made up properly..

While my dad was away he decided to order some parts from fibre lyte. He ordered himself two front losi xxx4 shock towers, and he got me a front and rear BJ4 shock tower. How knid of him.:D Anyway they look exactly like the origionals but he got them cut thicker than the origional to strengthen them up a bit. :)
