losi 4.5 in buggy

i know 4.5 is mental but there is one for a good price on the bay could it be turned down enough in the softwere to make it drivable indoors? in a 2wd buggy

you can turn it down all you want by limiting the throttle high pot to 50% so effectively you're only pushing the throttle forward halfway. (Assuming your tranny can do this)

I do this with my 5.5 indoors and even with the timing all the way down on the motor and speedo it's still too fast so 70% high pot was the answer, but it doesn't feel right to drive and feels gutless. on the plus side you can dive down the inside of anyone if they leave the door open and when they are power sliding everywhere it's easy to do.

It doesn't work well though, it will feel horrible most likely as it will be so 'urgent', also likely to get far hotter than a sensible motor.

what about going for a swap around and putting it in my xxx4 would it be a bit more sencable in that (i know its still mad)

well the combo motor and spedo is up at £50 so i dont think i would find a combo at that money

The way I see it is you save a bit of money by buying this motor because its a bit cheaper than than a 7.5 but how much does it cost you in spares when you break lots of stuuff then you decided the motor is to fast for you you then have to guy a new motor.

Carl, you are forgetting to mention that you will be using it at PDA on DIRT :woot: .............. mental, don't bother wasting your money by putting it in either of your cars. Get a decent speedo (there's plenty around second hand) and get yourself a 10.5 or at the most a 7.5.

4.5 motors are ten a penny for the very reason they are undriveable .......... if you want i'll sell you a perfectly good 2.5, it's no good to me but if you want to go insane be my guest LOL :woot:

yup. it doesn't feel right at all. I have a 7.5 on order to replace it while I'm indoors. hopefully my new tyres will give me more traction to let the motor stretch it's legs.

One was in a Durga, where frankly it was about the same is some companies 5.5's

The other was in a Slash, which was frankly a little silly. Alright it was totally nuts and wouldn't stay on its wheels.
