soldering iron for nimh cells help !!
 
Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a soldering iron suitable for soldering nimh packs or reccomend a brand in the uk.
Any help appreciated

Antex 40 watt from maplins but get a wider tip, they are class for batterys

i would be looking more 60-80 watts with cells you just want a blast of high heat for a really short time

Ditto You dont want to keep the heat on the cells too long or you ruin them. Pre solder the bars and the batteries then 3seconds together should do it. Roughen the battery ends with a bit of emery paper first to give better bite for the solder.

80 watt weller will do the job easy to get hold of as well

Ive always found the 40w ok nice wide tip you dont have to hold the iron on that long, well i dont anyway because the wide tip spreads the heat more, my cells have always been cock on no probs.

I have one of the high powered Weller ones with the wide tip that is perfect for doing cells and brushed motor that I would be willing to sell to you. Hardly use it now with brushless / lipo. Send me a PM if your interested.
