Candy Apple Green Needed.....
So i've got my shell and it all looks cool, fitted the wing last night and i definitely need the larger 7" wing so i really need to get hold of some Candy Apple green paint?
I can only find what i need in Bottled form for airbrushing (see http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJLW5&P=ML) - This is what was used on my shell, and then it was backed with Chrome to give a really nice metallic finish. Is there any form of spray paint that will give me a reasonably close match? I can't find anything so far....... Also if anyone in the painting world would like to give me a quote / idea of costs for painting up a few large wings for me with this stuff it would be much appreciated as i haven't got an airbrush or anything i can use even if i do order the paint in this way. Thanks guys. |
don't know about a colour match, but Tamiya do a transparent green, that can be backed with silver to give a bright metallic finish, might be worth a try.

i've just done a B4 body with the tamiya green, and it's not too bad a match for that. just layer plenty of coats of the trans. green on, then back it with tamiya bright silver (not standard sliver PS12), and you shouldn't be far off... I pretty much use tamiya paints exclusively now, messy when trying to get them in to the airbrush though!

Faskolor do a transparent green, and it works well backed with Chrome to make it a shinny finish, or faskrome to give it a metalflake effect. Always then back with black though.

Spaz Stix make by far the best candy paints in existance ;p

nick has no airbrush though.
only cans |
hence the mention of tamiya sprays:)

I scan read it and caught "bottled form for airbrushing" :eh?: Thought that's what he was after :p I actually managed a candy effect with tamiya metallic sprays, just spray it lightly over the top and back with silver:

The green on this is the tamiya green, looks a shade darker because of the light, it is backed with chrome and 'marbled'. But it looks pretty close with 2 coats and chrome. |
