RC Rallying

In one of my random trawls through YouTube and the web, I've uncovered a load of stuff about RC Rallying - running 1/10th electric rally car over timed stages while the driver runs alongside.

Stuff like this

It seems to be big in the Czech Republic for some reason. Anyone know any more about it?

Oh and here's some more:

I think this has been discussed before - not sure, but someone might have actually taken part in some of that madness also.
It looks good - and might even keep ya a bit fitter haha. Tbh, I'd love to race some rally cars around a circuit (rallycross style) with scale bumps and jumps, not 10th buggy sized madness. Some close racing like touring cars but with actual off road fun.

Yeah, me too. Without having to run alongside in shorts and white socks.

Either of these would do the job..

Oooh that DF03ra integralle looks awesome - would only make sense if you could use it for some racing tho :( Sadly there's no rally fan dedicated enough to kick off some racing I don't think.
Really cool though - I'd love to do some scale racing with one of those, no crazy power brushless nuttyness tho. standard motors and cells.

I don't know, you could use 17.5T Brushless - it's what the Yanks do for their stock classes.

lol, have to be fit to run along side. I like this video of 1/5 rally cars - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLY6t2L7UFU

Has anyone ever seen any 10th scale Group B shells?

Or MK2 Escort?

Or MK1/2 Golf?

Colinevan 06-01-2010 07:21 PM

I would even convert a 4wd 1:10th to rally x style like what peeps used to run years ago... Like the manta rays, optima mids, lazers etc etc.

Southport would be an ace track for that.

I reckon it could take off.

Col.

Love to do this but not physically capable of running along behind the car though...:woot:

There was a guy in one of the mags who had an Escort shell on a 1/10th drift car. Not sure where he'd got it though.

MHeadling 07-01-2010 07:15 PM

That Mk2 Escort was Phil Warners, you can get them from Kamtek

hpi ran a series for a while, I may be on my own but I think real looking rc cars look cheap ??? I know there not it's an odd one to explain !!!

markwilliamson2001 07-01-2010 08:33 PM

Yes it used to be Yokomo and HPI Rally cars in 200mm wide setup. They went well at Tiverton on the clay, very nice to drive, and drift round the sweeper!

The Subaru shell from HPI was nice, but it would be ace to see some Metro 6R4, or Audi Quattro shells out there, Group B stylee!
