Hupo moves from Tamiya?..... Durango?

Team Durango have an interesting new post on their Blog with an announcement of their intention to get multiple European champion Hupo Honigl back driving the Durango cars this year - though nothing is confirmed apparently. A quick look at the Tamiya TRF website confirms no mention of Hupo as a TRF driver any longer. No official word yet and Team Durango wouldn't be drawn on any details - but did mention their intention to get a big name driver.

Durango:
Just to confirm rumours – Yes Team Durango are actively trying to attract Hupo Honigl back to Team Durango.
Team Durango want the 5 time off road European Champion (current 2wd Euro champ) on team due to his wide experience in many classes.
Hupo is also very good at 8th buggy and we believe with the right car he will be a title contender; should he join us, the DNX408 will soon be here for him.
Perhaps Hupos best class is 2wd and this will be important for Durango should we choose to make a 2wd competition buggy.
In fact Hupo has so much high level experience; – 12th, World GT and touring cars etc that having Hupo on board would open doors for the Team Durango brand & its innovative approach to RC racing design.

I guess they have a few projects before they can really get a 2WD design started - really should be something special if they make one though.

You would think thought that they would get the DEX410R out before 2WD, but you never know.

I,d love to see Tamiya to make a nice new TRF 2wd.

Sorry jimmy, as far as I know, Hupo has never been listed on any Tamiya website, including the TRF website. Thus he hasn't been removed and it's misleading to say the website confirms no mention of Hupo "any longer".

Keep up the good work!
Greetings from Austria and all the best in 2010! :)
See you in Traiskirchen.

I was refering to him being listed as a team driver - which he isn't. If he never was then that's cool, I didn't mean to infer that he had been removed from that list - but that driver list is relatively new since I never saw it before? Though I do remember an older list - maybe my memory is faulty.

Looking forward to the Euros - do you know if there's a website or photos? I don't know if I'll get a place but I'll come to watch / do a report anyway :)

Your memory is fine Jimmy. Hupo has not/never been listed as a TRF driver on TamiyaUSA in the last 3 years from what I remember. Not sure about Tamiya Japan/Europe to be fair...

Keep up the great work
