Motor problems!!!

Hi Guys,

Just after a little advice really.

I have a orion element 19T brushed motor and its just died???

It will work for 2-5 mins then just stop turning??

Checked esc, connections, brushes etc. and it appears to be the motor itself.

If I take it out and leave it 2 mins and connect it to a battery it spins?????

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Gav.

Gav

can you post some pics of the brushed, com, motor stack can etc

if not described what condition they are in

how long are the brushes?

i dont mean to be insulting with this:blush:some times the brushes stick, have you tried when it stops pulling the brushes out a bit and see if it runs again:thumbsup:

Hi,
Please find photos as requested.

The brushes are about 9mm outer and 8mm centre.

Had a quick play with the brushes first time it played up but the same thing happened 10 mins later.

Thanks,
Gav.

If the commutator is dirty (i.e. black) and the brushes are old this sometime happens. Don't forget to check the springs, if they are too old they loose their springyness:) when they get hot. I would also change any capacitors you might have soldered on.

Hi,
Comm is a little dirty but nothing too excessive. I've given it a wipe.
I don't think the brushes are too short or worn.
The springs don't appear too slack when cold but not sure when warm.
I don't have any caps attached but should I, could that be an reason??
Thanks,
Gav.

Hi,

What's involved in skimmin?

Thanks,
Gav.

Hi,

Just thinking.............I wonder if it could be my mtroniks RV11 over heating but i'm sure I tested the motor with my lrp esc and it did the same.

Also not sure what gearing i'm using just using the pinion that came with the motor and spur gear that came with my B44????

Just a thought.

Thanks,
Gav

which pinion & spur do you have fitted?

also what tyres are on the B44?

does the car roll freely along the floor without the pinion on the motor?

I feel a comm skimming video coming soon, maybe later today, if not next week sometime

84 teeth spur
27 teeth pinion
proline dirt hawgs with addative (i race carpet and these are the control tyre)
the car does roll freely when the motor is not connected

thanks,
Gav.

that's a ratio of 7.59:1

are the dirt hawgs taller or smaller than Schumacher mini pin / spike tyres?

measure the diameter of the tyre please?
