LRP X12: ESC question
 

I'm hearing lots of bad things about X12 motors which is making me nervous about running mine. If I bother to get my 8.5 out of the box it will be teamed with a Sphere Comp (2007 version) but I've been told X12s run cooler and better with an SXX ESC. Can anybody comment?

I've been running an 8.5 X12 + SXX Esc indoors (Formby/Bury) on my B4 and the motor runs pretty cool (circa 115 deg F after 5 mins). I can't comment on the Sphere, but before buying the SXX I ran the X12 with an Excelorin Esc and the motor temps were very similar. As it is only an 8.5 rather than 5.5/6.5 I should imagine that it would run cool with any good Esc.

You won't have heat issues with any 8.5 unless you gear it miles too high.

The main thing I noticed when I moved to the SXX was the brakes feel much nicer than the Sphere's, much more progressive and much better for 2wd.

The X12 8.5 is a really nice 2wd motor :)
