Lipo for Ko Propo Esprit III

Hi All,

Was wondering is anyone tried this yet?

What LIPO are they using & how much of mod is needed?

frogger 26-12-2009 11:50 PM

LRP does a 3000mah 11.1v pack that fit's straight in. All you have to do is remove the battery contacts from the current tray but it's not a permanent thing, they can be put back in should you ever want to. A few of us have been running it like that for a while now.

Carl, do you know if it's possible to do anything similar with my Helios? The steerwheel has a removable battery holder instead of a fixed unit :)

I have an ib lipo fir my Helios. I had to reverse the pins on the plug as it also fits jr radios

I use this lipo in my Sanwa Exzes Plus. I assume your Helios uses the same shape battery? It comes with all the necessary connectors.

Just one thing to remember guys, I believe you have to take you lipo out and charge it like that, you should not charge it through the charging port of the tx.

Why not use the Li-Fe Battery of Hyperion?
I leave some photos, also there are for futaba 4pk (6.6v), kopropo helios (4+4) ...

How come? I know some tranny's you are limited on the current you can charge through the socket (like 1A or so) but other than that what would stop you?

I have 1 of these in mine

you need to remove some of the plastic since they're a few MM deeper than your AA's, but a single 900mah lipo gives 5hrs of run time.

currently working on fitting the 2nd to the otherside, but there's an annoying plug in the way :(

bodgit 07-03-2010 10:51 AM

Not lipo but just as good and cheaper. You could fit these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8x-AA-2100mAh-...item35a6f1d0ba
They behave the same as lipo,s with a very low discharge rate. They can be charged and left for months at a time and loose minimul voltage. I know i few other racers posted that they too used these. For the price you cant go wrong.

/tobys 07-03-2010 11:27 AM

I've just ordered these for my KO. A fraction of the price of going Lipo!

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...ucts_id=107341

They're the same kind of tech as the Sanyo Eneloop Nimh's (allegedly).

I've had their regular AA Nimh's before and were fine; I'll post back with how they perform when they arrive!

pro4nut 07-03-2010 11:32 PM

but unless things have changed since i last ran rechargeable cells they are only 1.2v a cell rather than 1.5V, where are the missing 2.4v coming from?
wouldn't that lead to a higher current drain?

/tobys 08-03-2010 09:46 AM

possibly, I'll let you know. For £7, it's not too big a gamble and they can always be put to use elsewhere around the house if they are not suitable :)

/tobys 08-03-2010 09:10 PM

They arrived today. The rechargable AA's show 10.4v whereas my Duracell's (which have been used for approx 5hrs) still show 11.2v - big difference.

I guess the AA's will end up in my lads Wii controllers or as emergency spares so it's back to Duracell's until a affordable Lipo solution is found :D

OldTimer 08-03-2010 09:25 PM

Also looking for a lipo for my KO Esprit III as my 7dayshop 2600mahAA rechargeables have started to not hold much charge. And they died during the meeting yesterday could still control the car at 8.5v ;) but not for long after that as the volt dropped quickly and the tranny shutdown.

10.4v is fine being using them in mine since the tranny came out, can easily do a meeting on them.
