Charging East Power 4200's

What settings should I be charging these cells at?

Currently Im charging at 6amps @ 3mv per cell.

They are coming off pretty hot!

Just found a dead cell in a pack that I recently built out of unmatched cells.

If they are coming off too hot you need to either cut the amp rate or cut the delta.

I have no experience of the EP cells but maybe try 5A. Also double check that all the cells are equalised, and that there are no other bad cells in your packs, one bad cell could generate a huge amount of heat before the others are charged.

I spoke to one of the dudes at Modeltech today about the East Power cells.

He said that I should be charging them at 5amps with a low delta value.

Apparently the new MK2 version of the cell is much better so I have ordered a pack of them to try out.

if you have dead cell or very badly matched cells, it will get much hotter, because some cells in the pack are going to be overcharged.

I charge at 5 amps, 0.03V delta for the pack :o :o

what Northy is saying is right we charge between 5 and 6 amps max, at 5 amps i use 10mv per pack and at 6 amp 5mv per pack and its just about right

That's 30mV per pack, Kenny is using 18mV.

I use these cells. I always discharge them before use on a board then charge them to 4200 millamps, not actually until they peak. THat way they are nice and cool.

Spot on rich, i find you get a better "charge" if you dont let the cells peak as in delta peak.
