Carpet racing between now and Jan 10th

I'm looking for a carpet race meeting, ideally not a million miles from me (although all racing seems to be at least that far ;) ) to get some set-up time on the cars before Petit RC.

Anybody know of anything?

I need dates & times sir, it's a weekday club isn't it? If so would need to take time off 2nd job to go so have to book it (between Xmas and New Year that could be hard).

Let me know and I'll see what I can do, might be a good option!

What sort of motors are people running?

panch 15-12-2009 03:55 PM

Roger..

Leominster run off road every two weeks on a friday evening, this Friday for example is an off road day, so work from that and book away

Ok, working this Friday unfortunately ... guessing that means the next one would be new years day ... whats the chances of people racing on New Years day???

Lee, would there be any chance of getting a lift with you, obviously I'd contribute to fuel costs?

Sorry to hi jack a friend and I have been thinking the same, but we are down near Southampton

Both of us are doing Petit, yet neither of us of raced indoors, let alone on carpet.

COBRA cardiff are having a meeteng after christmas. great place and very welcoming crowd of people:thumbsup:

peetbee 16-12-2009 10:16 PM

Caldicot will be racing on the 8th Jan, may be a bit too late for you or of course this Friday if you were free, you can even come down the A48 if you want to avoid the bridge tolls!

Peet, unfortunately I'm working this friday :( Might try for the 8th though.

Andy, any details of the COBRA meeting? Where are they now, been years since I was there!

i4n 17-12-2009 12:26 PM

Roger,

All COBRA details can be found here http://www.swmcrc.co.uk/, you'll need to register to post on the forum section.

The next meet is on the 27th, it's indoors at Llanishen High School, Cardiff. There is electricity there but you'll need a table and chair and a big, thick warm coat as the hall isn't heated (we've got an industrial gas powered space heater but it takes a while for it to kick in). The food from Ness' Kitchen is fantastic though, which makes up for the cold.

The only rule that'll probably affect you is that mini-pins (of any make) tyres are not allowed.

Ian

I didnt find the tyre thing a problem as its all good paractice. Did kill spikes tho. Perhaps try an old set of pro lines next time:thumbsup:

Hmm, I might be interested in this Cobra meeting.
As the forum needs new members to be authorised before they can view anything, can you tell me what sort of track build is likely to be used?
i.e. flat to accomodate tourers? Jumps? Surfaces?
Ta.

i4n 17-12-2009 01:50 PM

I can't make it myself but I imagine it'll be the same as normal - 100% carpet so the TCs can run with small jumps thrown in for the buggies (sometime an extra section is built on the end with a bigger jump/landing ramp combo).

GRIFF55 17-12-2009 01:50 PM

they do both tourers and buggy on the same day, removable jumps.
Good fun day keith, sure you'd enjoy.

DCM built the track last week, so bang him a pm for more info:thumbsup:

Hi Kieth,

Have checked both forumand website and you should be clear to access both.

Let me know if you are still getting a problem.

All the best
