Brawn GP

To be taken over by Mercedes Benz, and will be called Mercedes GP.... such a shame..

rcdunk 16-11-2009 12:07 PM

lol thats mad that is one year wonder lol

DCM 16-11-2009 12:09 PM

I can understand getting the backing, but a complete sell out, takes the reason, a lot liked Brawn, away from it!

stegger 16-11-2009 12:11 PM

Will ross brawn still be team leader ?

DCM 16-11-2009 12:14 PM

I would assume he is team principle, just now, Mercedes will have a major stake in the company, and it is called Mercedes not Brawn GP

rcdunk 16-11-2009 12:17 PM

yeh looks like he will be staying on as team boss no job for button though (but we all saw that one coming)

Ben Turner 16-11-2009 12:20 PM

Im guessing Jenson will be announced as being one of their drivers for next year soon then, Merc aren't going to buy a team straight off like that with no half handy drivers. Im going to say Button/Rosberg for 'Silver Arrows' and Hamilton/Raikonnen for Mclaren ;)

Not according to the BBC, looks like he,s off to McLaren
Button, who won the drivers' title this year, has been trying to secure a pay-rise from his £3.5m salary but it seems Mercedes is not interested in keeping him on.

all british driver team at mclaren wonder who they would give the number 1 car to intersting to watch that unfold

Ben Turner 16-11-2009 12:31 PM

Just read on bbc, apparently its Button/Hamilton at Mclaren and Rosberg/Heidfeld at Brawn.....

Wouldn't suprise me if Raikonnens not on the grid next year, i doubt he's fussed.....

Nick Goodall 16-11-2009 12:42 PM

Great news for F1!!!

Nice to see a car manufacturer actually getting further involved in F1 rather then pulling out!

Hopefully others may now sit up and take note

c0sie 16-11-2009 12:54 PM

Brawn start the year with Button and Rubens, World Champ and most experienced racer on the grid.
Win the title and constructors title.
Get backing from Mercedes.
End up with Rosberg and Heidfield?

Crikey...talk about kick in the knackers!

Ben Turner 16-11-2009 12:59 PM

I think Rosberg could spring a suprise or 2 :D

Button, Hamilton can't have it (he int the current world champ), hence why when Hill started in F1 he had to have the number 0 on the car

DaSloth 16-11-2009 01:32 PM

Surely he should have had 2?

but i think they mean who gets the "better" can in terms of number 1 car and i think that would have to be Lewis...

I think button could find himself being embarresed by hamilton next year! :)

DCM 16-11-2009 01:37 PM

I think Hamilton is the better driver, but not by much, think Jenson got a new fire in his belly...

Ben Turner 16-11-2009 01:42 PM

I think hamilton is better with a less then perfect car, but as we saw in the first part of the season, when the cars on his side button is awesome! If Mclaren make a good car (no doubt they will) next season is going to be interesting

I have to agree with you here - I'm all for them being in the same team as we'll all get to see just how quick Hamilton is!

Look at his pace against Alonso in his debut season, i think he'll out-shine Button comfortably at 90% of the races, then we'll see what joe-public think when Button starts moaning about his car etc :D

if i remember was that the year after prost had left so the world champion was not racing in f1 but as willams were constructors champions they got the 1 and 2 numbers but hill decided to not use the number one plate
please feel free to correct me as it was a long time ago and i am feeling twice my age today when it comes to remembering stuff

bodgit 16-11-2009 02:21 PM

Im not too sure about Button being outclassed by lewis. Towards the end of the season as the Brawn car was clearly lacking to the Mclaren we saw them both trading places in qualifying, great to watch. I think given the same car Button could well show Hamilton a few things.
One thing for sure... One wants to retain his crown the other to get it back
I see no favours from either of them. With no fuel stops to help gain an advantage its going to be won rightly on the track..
Its going to be a great season.
