different sized wheels

does anyone know the legalities on running smaller wheels on the front of your road car than the back.

I know Lotus Elise's and many other cars come from the factory with smaller front wheels...

I only ask because I'm running standard mk4 golf wheels 15" on the front and my RS4 18" wheels on the back until tomorrow when I get new tyres on my 18's

The rolling diameter is the same I'm sure. it just understeers a bit hehe

Now I'm back on the original wheels on the front and the electronic speed sign outside the school still reads within 1mph of my speed.

there is no legality here, the drive wheels must be bigger than the steering wheels.but unsure how that goes on front wheel drive car,you cant run different sized tires rims on the same axle apart from a super saver spur tyre, and to a limited speed.

that's what I thought. as long as they are the same left to right it doesn't matter front to back

bigger wheel is supposed to be on the back,i was in the tire trade for a while and it use to say drive wheel should always be bigger than steering wheel, but god knows how that works on front wheel drive.

Or on an old car where the steering wheel could be bigger than the wheels on the car

Go

They did it on grease OK. And Ive seen loads of hotrods with tiny wheels up front on the road. Ok maybe not loads, but some. In fact, I think you should put some Mini wheels on the front .

but then you'd have to run stupidly small discs capt' 15" is the smallest I can get on with my discs on the front. they look kinda small when I put the 18's on. Time to pop some TT 330mm jobbies on the front hehe.
