Another gearing thread

right i run 19/84 with a 5700kv motor and 2s lipo

its blatantly over geared cos my sidewinder overheated today (whoops)

but if i go down to 17t wont it lose alot of its top end ?

Under gearing could also lead to overheating, if the motor is running flat-out a lot. You need to give information about internal drive ratio if known, if not then at least the car model, so people can advise better.

i use the mamba max of my traxxas with a 3500kv trax motor on a 81 spur and a 23pinion that fine but that a 3cello lipo batterys i have got the chart in front of me hope this help you out right 15pinion to 21pinion that for a 2cell lipo battery and get a bigger spur gear as i was saying the bigger the kv its going to over heat quicker i use a 4600kv with a 2 cells lipo 86spur and 23pinion that great but bigger the motor over heat problem dont give it full power all the time .some time do it but back off the throttle if your doing speed run etc and for bashing heat problem i have just order a 5700kv motor i will be gearing that at 17pinion 86spur or 90spur andf a 3 cell lipo 10000mha pack or a 2cell lipo
