losi xxx4

i just wanted to know if this its a good car as i have just order 1 is there any other parts in need to race it ;)

jordan1 07-11-2009 05:13 PM

xxx4g+

front diff housings and front hinge pin brace are the only spares you will need, i had two xxx4g+ and all i ever broke was the diff housing and pin brace. if you can get hold of the titanium pin brace it will save you a few bob in the long run

if you've just "ordered one" then it's too late to worry wether it's any good or not.
However they are a pretty strong old chariot with sealed belt drive that's fairly indestructable if looked after and reasonable suspension. They were dropped n favour of the older xx4 simply because the suspension is better on the xx4 (for real bumpy stuff)
Treat it right and it's a good car that'll last ages. Fookin ugly though...

are parts easy to get and how long do the belts last. why did you sell your xxx4 how old are they ????????

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 06:00 PM

?
anybody help me out how long do the belts last and are they easy to mesh the pinion gear up

super__dan 07-11-2009 06:20 PM

Yes it's a good car, the belts will last ages if setup correctly. Front shock towers aren't the strongest though it you drive into things hard.

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 06:31 PM

thanks mate are parts cheap or do they cost the earth and are parts easy to get from local modelshops

Col 07-11-2009 07:25 PM

Stampmeister, you are the only one who can check your local modelshops.

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 07:35 PM

i know that up too me but i wanted to know how many racing people use them

jim76 07-11-2009 08:09 PM

the losi graphite parts are REALLY expensive compared to other stuff. The car is good indoors, put poor outdoors compared to more modern cars. The xxx4 must be around 6 years old now or more.
Front gearbox is weak and shock tower on the front. Belts should last ages on it.
Not many people use them at all now. Most people run the older XX4 as it is better, or a more modern chassis

What happened to the cyber10? And i thought you didn't want belts?

why didn't you ask BEFORE ordering it? you can't keep impulse buying then complaining after if it no good for you. This is why people get upset with you.

jhammond 07-11-2009 08:42 PM

Stampy...

You are so bloody confusing.

You were complaining yesterday that you would only go for a shaft-drive! This morning you said you were seriously considering the B44. Now you've 'ordered' a Losi xxx4?

Can you see why people lose patience with you?

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 09:29 PM

you ask me why i did not buy the losi car as it was a good car i took your word on that and i am buying this car as i cannot afford pro gear yet i like this car its the best i have seen yet. i have kids and my racing is not all about money when your on a crap wage and got 3 kids to buy xmas present for so i am buy this car as i like it and it mint condition

super__dan 07-11-2009 09:59 PM

To be fair, the XXX4 is pretty good on a flat ish track, it's bumpy tracks it's not so good on. I won Yorks NE regional a few years back with a XXX4 though it had a few mods. I used to produce some carbon bits that I used to sell, steering mods and shock towers.

I never used to have any problems with the transmission on my car, those MASSIVE diff gears mean it's all pretty free.

You must remember though that it is still technically Losi's most recent top end kit so parts are quite expensive, I do agree though that the front bits of diff housing, pin brace and shock tower are the only things that commonly break.

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 10:12 PM

thanks mate it sound good too me can you buy plastic parts for them?

stampede vxlboy 07-11-2009 11:57 PM

cant wait to get it :D:thumbsup::)

super__dan 08-11-2009 12:02 PM

Certain bits are available in plastic because there was the earlier XXX4 and then the later XXX4G+ which was a higher spec car all of which was 'graphite' plastic.

super__dan 08-11-2009 12:03 PM

Have you bought a new one or used?

stampede vxlboy 08-11-2009 02:36 PM

My last xxx4 i had was ace!

I thought that it jumped better over the triple than my X5 at Deerdale 8th scale astro track LOL, It just floated perfectly over all 15ft from peak to peak and hit the down ramp ace!
