losi xxxcr/bk2 diff

i took my car out the other day and i went to go flat out and it just stoped and the motor span and so did the pinion and spur gear but the wheels didnt :eh?:
im not sure if its the diff or what
its not the arm things (thats my echnical term ;)) that go from the wheel to the diff or the sliper clutch so it must be the diff.
tell me what you think and a uk website wer i could get the new parts.

For losi parts the best place is DMS-racing..

Sounds like you have most likely melted your diff gear. But this is only a possability so its best to get it open and find out. If you have melted your diff gear, it mean you will need a new diff gear and its proberly best to get new diff plates and diff balls.

But there is always a reason why these things happen. Could be you just had your diff to loose or a part has worn out.

So again you might be best off buying a whole new diff bar the outdrives if they are in good condition.

Also before ordering make sure you have the right parts as there is a diffrence between the Cr and the BK2 diff's the BK2 has Gen II transmision and the CR has the Gen I transmission.

Take it apart carefully making note of where everything goes if your not sure and find out.

okay then cheers, how much would it cost for these parts for the diff ?
also do you need a different chassis to make a bk2 into a midmotor car or can you do it to the standard chassis?
if so could you send me a pm and i will give my email adress and then you could send me some instructions to my email

To make the BK2 mid motored you could either get the atomic carbon cr2 conversion or you could heavily modify the original chassis and make your own. As for the diff parts you would need to take the old diff apart to find out what is wrong with it.

Before buying new parts it might just be worth checking that the diff has not just come lose and just needs tightening again.

Or failing that, are you sure the drive pins were in on both the wheels? The diff will always spin the easiest wheel so if ones out, not a lot will happen, worth a check.

oh ye i never thought about the pins
i will have a look
cheers

lodders127 08-11-2009 09:27 AM

ye luckly it was only the pins and know as i had the backend off i decided that i will make the mid motor convertion

lodders127 08-11-2009 09:21 PM

no i was mistaken
it isnt the pins its the main diff gear, the gear spins around the shaft that goes trough the middle :(

MatJohnson 09-11-2009 09:01 AM

Is it fully tight (I don't mean fully, but is the screw tight in the middle of it?)

lodders127 09-11-2009 05:05 PM

ye i made it as tight as i could but the gear still span around the peg things sticking out
